Is there a dumber cliche in baseball than “we stayed within ourselves”? They say it ALL the time, and it don’t mean jack shit. Well..., it’s neither here nor there.

Interesting tidbit. Not only is Cole now at 9 consecutive games of 10 or more strikeouts, he is also at 12 consecutive games of 9 or more strikeouts.

Our 107 win season is a massive accomplishment. Only 8 teams in all of MLB history have ever won more than that

Four days off now. Who will the Astros play? Guessing an early start time on Friday. My money is on our old buddy Charlie Morton eliminating the A’s for us. Then we will be looking at him as the starter for TB in game #3 on Monday the 7th. That should be an interesting matchup. Morton against Greinke.

Looking at the stat sheet on the Rays, once you get past CFM, the starting pitching looks a tad weak. But the game is played grass, not paper.

The Rays employ the “opener/bullpen day” strategy a lot and it seems to work well for them. I’m hoping that after 4 days off and with each game becoming more important, our guys will be locked in and ready to go.

We should win the first two at home with Verlander and Cole. Going to Tampa just needing one more win with Greinke going is OK with me. Should Oakland win the wild card game, we should still take the first two at home. Greinke has owned the A's so having him going in Oakland isn' bad. I wonder wbo Oakland sends out against Morton. If Oakland manages to beat Morton, we should get Fiers in game one or two. We have hammered him.

Oakland is pitching Sean Manaea. Advantage Rays. There is no reason, but the A's play the Astros tougher than any other upper tier team. I'll take my chances with TB, even with CFM.
