Harris has been great this year. He’s proven me wrong.
Cole is worth $35 million a season.

I agree Hinch effed up tonight .. but he should've brought in Harris to finish the 8th. Harris has picked up so many unclean innings in his postseason career, it didn't make sense not to Why did Hinch not go with Harris in the 8th? That doesn’t bode well for Osuna if he needs Harris as the backup plan.

If this game doesn't get him paid to stay then management has already made up their mind I read a story where the Astros will be close to the luxury tax without even signing Cole. I’d have to pay the tax and keep him. They already messed up not re-signing Charlie. Hope they learned a lesson.

Outstanding pitching from Cole and a great save from Will Harris. I think AJ learned not to bring Osuna in the game in the 8th and then expect him to be sharp in the 9th. He did a fantastic job to finish the 8th but didn't have it in the 9th.
Let's hope That Springer ges this game out of his system. I don't remember the last time he looked this bad at the plate. Not taking advantages of chances to score nearly cost us. Big hits fromn Carlos Correa when they were needed. He looked to have his timing baclk. Oustanding game from Maldonado at the plate and behind the plate. Nice to know we don't have to win at the Trop but I expect us to close it out over there.

He looked worse on the three pitch K with nobody out and Tucker on third and Maldonado on first than I've ever seen him. He looked clueless all night. Correa came through with two big hits as did Maldonado. They owe a big THANKS to Will Harris.

Back from the Watering Hole.....
Again, had to hit the alternative, since Sling dropped FSN, and Reddit stream player doesn't support Apple devices. Again... no game time commentary on my part.
My takes tonight?
* "Smoke 'em if You Got 'em"- I keep hate using the word epic for our starters, but what we have just seen in the past 2 nights has to be the greatest 1-2 post season punch in Playoff History. Cole's 116th pitch was 100 mph. How insane is that?
* "Fox, please quit getting so chairied away". Shame on Fox Sports for the clip after clip after clip after clip of the poor Ball Boy who misplayed his chair on the Maldonado bullet along the left field line. (5th inning) Yes it did cost us a run, but right at that moment I told my wife I just hope that mishap doesn't impact the final result of the game. We aren't the flubs and we don't Bartman our own fans. But still, this kid would not ever had lived it down if we had lost.
* "MVP......MVP.....MVP". Too bad the BBWA voting takes place before the playoffs. You would think that clutch hitting is at it's zenith in the post season, and that should be a factor in voting. Trouble is.... Trying to compare. Mike Trout has been in 3 post season games in 9 years.. And not likely to be in another one, anytime soon. So. IMO.... This aspect of his game is missing from the equation. Hopefully, Bregman gets the crown.
* "HIs back may hurting, but that was a Devil Ray Back Breaker"- I know we give CC a hard time on this board, but there is no denying that his early defensive gem was nothing less than spectacular.
* Paging Yoda for mind control skills"- Maldonaldo is a good catcher, but he dropped two easy foul tip strike 3's that IMO were concentration lapses. Pssssss... Your starting frequency might depend on it. Of course, that CS, was pretty badass though.
* The advertisers love it, but we sure don't". Anyone else getting sick of the "Pitching by Committee" tactics of the Rays. 3 hours and 45 minutes for a low scoring game is not one of my favorite modes of baseball.
* "Better Late Than Ever" Dept.- A.J... IMO Osuna was left in one too many batters. The bar in unison was screaming for a change. I think we got lucky this time, as Harris bailed him out. But if the clip board told AJ to load the bases with <2 outs with a fading pitcher....... We may not be that lucky next time.

LOL, Vogt on MLB network talking about how Cole and Maldonado might discuss their game plan and saying, "Are you comfortable backdooring tonight?"
My wife comes in at that exact moment and asks "What are you watching?"
Sorry, but that was funny as hell

Game #1 of the 2017 ALCS through game #1 of the 2017 WS. He went 3-27 in the ALCS and 0-4 with 4 K’s in game #1 of the WS. Then he caught fire and the rest is history.

After his horrible game last night, he could go on a tear starting in game three. The hitter I'm concerned with now is Brantley. He has looked off for awhile now. Alvarez seems to be over the nerves he showed in game one. I am greatly impressed by what Correa is giving us and i didn't expect it. His defense is spectacular and he had two clutch hits last night and his timing appears to be coming around after he was terrible in game one. Morton will be a challenge but I expect a good game from Greinke.

I think he will be more than a challenge. CFM is already a bad ass clutch pitcher. Now add the adrenalin of playing against the team that didn't think you were worth re-signing. And in the playoffs no less. Plus a TB home game? Advantage Rays.....

We won't get much off Morton so Greinke has to be on his game.
