Come on, guys. It was the first game. I'm not going to say it wasn't important, but it's not like they weren't trying. Sometimes you just can't get going. They'll show some life tomorrow. It wasn’t that they lost but how they lost that’s making the guys here upset.

It wasn’t that they lost but how they lost that’s making the guys here upset. You got it. They had no plate discipline that played into Tanaka's hands. We got all we could expect from Greinke and did nothing to support him. Then, Hinch pinch hits for the only guy who had a hit off him. Pressly is not ready and it shows. It doesn't matter what typ of pitching we get if the offense stinks like it did tonight. We get three meaningless hits in an ALCS game.........disgraceful.

Also 95% of Tanaka's breaking stuff had right to left downward tail, with a pretty consistent angular break. Don't understand how we didn't adjust properly.

Also 95% of Tanaka's breaking stuff had right to left downward tail, with a pretty consistent angular break. Don't understand how we didn't adjust properly. Out right handed hitters all tried to pull and refused to try to go to right field.........a rookie left-handed hitter got the only hit he allowed and then Hinch pinch hit for him later on. We have guys who either refuse to adjust or don't know how to adjust. Do our hitting coaches ever try to get them to adjust.....nobody knows. We have guys.....namely Altuve......who opposing pitchers know will swing at the first pitch and seldom throw a first pitch strike because they don't have to. Jose will swing at it no matter where it is. The first time Bregman came up, he took two strikes and then struck out on a pitch not even close.

The Astos batters looked lost....they looked completely lost .....it was almost like the Yankees saw the Astros were tipping their batting stances....

Tampa would have put up a better fight in that game. Show up tonight or this series is over.

We should have hired Beltran as our bench coach when we had the chance It's difficult not to draw the conclusion Beltrán babysitting the lineup that year is why we won the World Series

Beltran from what I hear is on or near the top of the List for the Mets Job. They say he can handle NY but was quite as a Mouse when he was here in NY playing.

It amazes me how visibly frustrated some of our guys get with one bad at bat--Springer especially has looked bad at times even during the regular season.

We screwed up by not finding a way to keep Beltran in the organization.

Hinch is strange at times with the Moves he makes. I still think he waits too long on pulling a Pitcher. Hinch is not (and has never been) a good manager. He's a mediocre manager gifted with an elite team. I reckon his managering for AZ is probably more representative of his skill set.

Maybe Luhnow should fire AJ Hinch and hire Carlos Beltran.

Sherwin and I have always complained about Hinch. So who would be better? Who knows? What does that have to do with whether Hinch is a good manager or not? He IS the manager, and that's not going to change soon.

As much as I criticize Hinch, he can’t hit. If Hinch were like the old Hinch, we would’ve lost to the Rays in 4 because Osuna would’ve lost Game 2.

Almost a Hinchian non-answer, eh? I don't have a problem with Hinch. I don't believe there are any better options. I don’t think the problem is Hinch, but this lazy offensive approach is killing the team. They just sit there and take strikes hoping for some magical center cut mistake while whiffing on pitches they should crush (or pitches in the dirt). There’s no other facet to it, no bunts, no steals or hit and runs, and no hitting against the shift. They sit there whiffing and hitting it helplessly to the defense. Could you think of anything that typifies the 2019 offense more than Bregman hitting into that double play after somehow avoiding one on the prior pitch?

I kind of feel about Hinch the same way I feel about Strom. Everyone talks about how great and wizardly they are, but I doubt they'd be that great if they were in the same roles on the Miami Marlins team. It's easy to look good as a pitching coach when you have JV, Cole and Greinke as your top 3. Same for Manager.
