I remember my parents taking me to see the Disney film "Song of the South". It was made in 1946 but would still get the occasional showing in movie theaters in the 70s (back when they still had drive-ins). It was in Memphis, and like most places people might go to in Memphis, the audience was about half black and half white.
Amazing how everybody seemed to think it was funny and there were no riots, protests, or nasty letters to the editor. Today, I don't think there is a single cinema that would touch that film, and I bet you won't find the DVD at Walmart either.

Disney officially vaulted the movie quite a few years ago, and wont allow it to be released again.
