I've heard this take. It's so hard to determine in the moment because when he hit it I thought it was a homerun. I'm sure he thought the same. However, if he put his head down and took of running he would have made it to third and scored on Altuve's fly out to tie the game.

I think it could have made a difference, but it's hard to know for sure.
I was more frustrated with the missed CI call on Reddick, and Correa's bouncer not getting through the hole to bring in an extra run.

I hate to say this about George, but that was a Gumpez move on his part.

It’s not about pushing the effort to the max or winning games but about how far you hit it and how cool you look. Now, I don’t see George as one of those guys, but the brain farts are more common nowadays.

Yeah, the new norm of admiring HRs and bat flips pisses me off to no end. OTOH.... Are we 100% sure that if Springer had hustled, he might have been thrown out at 3rd? It would have been a close play.

If you run in that situation the way you should, you at least have a shot to make it to third. If you don't run, you for sure don't.
I would prefer them give themselves a chance by running.

Exactly right. There no way to KNOW he wouldn't have been thrown out at 3rd, but it's a guarantee that he won't make it to 3rd if he does a bunny hop at home plate while watching his ball fly

Major brain fart by Springer, who normally busts his tail and runs out everything. Admiring that ball was something more common for Bregman and Corra. His failure to run hard kept him from being on third base and in position to score the tying run on Jose's fly ball to right.......bad move by Springer.

Nothing can be done about that now. Lesson learned for George. I can't get mad at him when he hustles on just about every play. It was only game one. I see Verlander coming out determined after that bad inning against the Yanks.

I see Verlander coming out determined after that bad inning against the Yanks. You are right. This was out of character for Springer. There is nobody on the team who out-hustles George. What George did was something Carlos Gomez did every time he hit a ball out of the infield. There is a big difference between George and Gumpez though. George will learn from this and it won’t happen again. Gomez never learns/learned.

I'll give him a pass on this one. Bregman (remember him?) needs to start doing something with the bat or the Stros are screwed.

I read the interview with Bregman and he lays the blame of the loss on himself. He needs to just chill and play like he did in the regular season. He took his bat home to sleep with it, LOL.

At the risk of sounding like Corch, he needs to quit acting like a moron/dumbass and focus on baseball. He can throw up gang signs and dance in the dugout after he starts contributing to the game. Even his defense is suffering...he rarely throws a ball to first lately that doesn't pull Yuli of the bag.

Interestingly, Bregman's career WS numbers are better than his ALCS numbers. Not that they're still very good...
He crushes it in the ALDS...

Springer is now saying he wasn't gazing lovingly at what he thought was a dinger, but rather couldn't run fast to the bases because he saw Tucker come back to tag up and he was afraid he would overrun Tucker.

He would have had a better shot to score from third but the pitcher could have thrown different pitches as well to Altuve as the infield played in. No sure thing that Springer would have scored

There's no guarantee that I would have been better off if I'd won the billion dollar powerball last year, but if I'd bought the winning ticket and then shredded it...well, you know.

For some reason, he has not been close to the player he was in the regular season.

LOLOLOLOLs I like George, but, these lame excuses for not running out that ball are beneath him and make him look bad He needs to accept the blame for his mistake and move on.

If you would have said, If I won the billion dollar powerball last year I would have been better off then you could argue the same thing.

I'd move him down in the order and bat Yuli 4th.

I'd move him down in the order and bat Yuli 4th. I think Springer looks more scared at the plate than Bregman, but at least he’s still driving the ball. The Astros are providing lessons on watching strikes and swinging at bad pitches. What the hell was Correa doing striking out on that slider way off the plate? The offense as a whole lacks plate vision. Oftentimes, they all look like they’re guessing besides Altuve and Gurriel.

I still don't understand why Tucker went back and touched second when the fly wasn't caught
