How can the Astros Sign Gerrit Cole long term? And how can they improve lonh term?
My thoughts would be as they were since the begining. Trade Gurriel and Reddick and save the 19m. And offer that money to Cole to stay but back load the money on the Contract. With Tucker up and ready and Yordan the Astros would just be iffy at 1B.
But they could use the collateral they get from the above trades hypothetically to go after Trey Mancini.
The guy the Astros have had intereast in for atleats the last two years.
Im just curious on you guys thought process.
Also I have alot of Astros gear thats for sale with Coa and Jsa if anyone is intreasted from bats to balls to jerseys to rare 1 of 10 pics with multi signitures on it

If he wins tonight's game then they will build an alter where all can pay tribute. But it ain't going to happen. Boras wants him to sign for 8 years and 250 million. Houston would be crazy to do that even if they could.

I am thinking it will take 7 years/$250M and I would be for that....I also for Cole to have opt-out clauses after year 3....he can mqx out the Astros window of WS years, and then go elsewhere.

Yuli will NOT be traded and shouldn't be......I have no problem with dealing Reddick. I am glad you didn't get us Realmuto and Dietrich.

The guy whose record contract that Boras wants to beat is Price. Back a few years ago everyone wanted to sign Price and he signed for 7 years and 210 million if I recall correctly. That has not worked out for the Sox as yet. To keep Cole we would have to turn around and trade Grienke. That would be doable if we sweeten the pot a little to the team we traded him to. If that is what it would take then I would do it. I just can not see us having 90 million tied up for 3 starters. This though is clear to me, if Cole really wants to stay we will figure out a way to make that happen.
