Thanks my friends. We got all the tests/scans out of the way today. She has appointments with the nutritionist, dermatologist and oncologist tomorrow. Will get the results of today’s tests/scans. If all is clear, it will mean she has been cancer free for 3 years. She couldn’t eat anything today prior to getting all of tests done. It was after 2:00 PM by the time we got away from MDA. Thw wife was starving. We went to Papacitas on Richmond. We had a small bowl of queso, a large bowl of guacamole an order of chicken and shrimp fajitas for two. We drank water with lemon (which we always do). The service was outstanding. The portions were more than enough. The food was very good. Tipped the waiter 20% and got out of there for $61. The table-side guac is awesome, but my wife won't eat it so I never get to order it. It's too much for one person.

Sounds like you had an overall good day. If you got out of Papacitas for that, you did OK. I seldom can leave Pappadeaux's for less. Let us know how the tests come out......praying for good news.

Other tex mex restaurants that are worth trying: Goode Company Catina at I-10 and Campbell area, Escalantes at City Centre, Lupe Tortillas at I-10 and Bunker Hill.

While we are waiting for something to happen at the winter meetings, where can I get the best TexMex food in Houston? My wife and I are at MDA today and tomorrow for regular scans, tests and appointments. At most taquerias, I get a burrito with steak, egg, potatoes, cheese, and that heavenly green hot sauce.I know what you mean. There is a spot (forgot name though it was inner loop/Kirby area) many years ago that made the perfect Salsa Verde. I probably bought 10 batches of tomatillos trying to recreate the magic. Perfect heat, perfect tang, consistency..... Just never could do it. I once asked the place if they minded sharing the receipe, but got the Grandma from Monterry would cry speech instead. Internet versions didn't do the trick either.

How they went out of business is stlll a mystery to me.

All I know is about they disappeared about 20 years ago. i know that I heard or read that the people who own Pappasitos and Pappadeaux's bought Luther's and it became Pappas BBQ. I could be wrong. I remember eating at a couple of Luther's locations in the greater Houston area and the food was great. Another great place for BBQ is County Line BBQ..They have them in Houston and Austin. I don't know about other locations.

You're working too hard... take a long lunch, take your caddy over to the local driving track, and get some of your stress/pent up frustration out.

My favorite place to eat in the Houston area is T-bone Tom's. Yummy!

Though it is a chain, my favorite is Papasitos. There I alternate between Carne' Asada, (Extra Jack), and Steak Fajita Quesidillas. I hear there are some inner-loop spots that are awesome too, but I am not that adventerous at my age. As you know, I love Papasitos, too. However, feck Papasitos. The last time my wife and I ate there (in Stafford/Sugar Land), it cost us $78 WITHOUT any alcoholic drinks. 2 enchilada plates, 2 cokes, 2 sopapillas, and a small queso dip for $80? Never again. Two things Green Frog. Is Bortaz from the Bible? Have you eaten at Texas-Brazil

Two things Green Frog. Is Bortaz from the Bible? Have you eaten at Texas-Brazil 1. No, that was Boaz. He and Ruth had a thing. Bortaz is an anglicization of the Klingon word for "revenge". 2. If you mean Texas de Brazil, then yes.

If you mean Texas de Brazil, then yes. We just got one here on Long Island and went there for my birthday last weekend. Food was good though I wish some of it had been more rare. Might have been time I went. Lamb was exceptional as was some of the other meats.
