He'll get a lot of votes but Cole was slightly better overall. The writers will love Cole's absurd K numbers.

Yordan and Alonso were shoo-ins..........Bregman will probably get screwed out of the MVP. I expect Cole to get the Cy Young.

Verlander will get the CY. He hit milestones and pitched a no-hitter. Cole was great in the playoffs but the votes were submitted before they started.

You’re just hating because Cole’s about to leave. No, I'm not. I'm just stating facts. I didn't hate Morton when he left. You can't blame a guy for wanting to get paid. Besides, we found Cole and Morton, we'll find other pitchers that we can fix.

Besides, we found Cole and Morton, we'll find other pitchers that we can fix. Cole broke the franchise record for strikeouts in a season and strikeouts in a postseason game. He also led the league in ERA and strikeouts, just missing the Triple Crown in wins finishing second to Verlander. He was the better pitcher this season.

Verlander will get the CY. He hit milestones and pitched a no-hitter. Cole was great in the playoffs but the votes were submitted before they started. The no-no will definitely be attractive to the writers and Verlander's IP/GS is slightly ahead of Cole's. But I think Cole's 329Ks vs Verlander's 300Ks will put Cole over the top.
American League Cy Young
Gerrit Cole: 100
Justin Verlander: 98.26
Shane Bieber: 78.87
Lance Lynn: 75.83
Charlie Morton: 74.83

I guess we'll all find out tomorrow. Yep. But what we'll find out tomorrow is how the writers voted. Who was actually the better pitcher? That will still be up for debate. And a damned fine debate to have, imho.

The one that allowed less baserunners, or the one that struckout more hitters? Pick your poison.
