If Bregman were somehow able to win the MVP this season, how many people would be crying about it being tainted?

Bregman passed Trout in RC when Trout was injured. Bregman deserves it

I may be in the minority here.........Somebody explain just exactly what is supposed to be wrong with the culture the Astros have created.....We have a clubhouse where the players seem to get along and support each other. Nobody points fingers at their teammates for mistakes......manager and coaches work well with players....What is the problem?? All I can think of is some of Bregman's antics are not too popular. I think the damn Yankees stirred up all this crap and will keep stirring it. The Astros have an excellent camaraderie. No one can take that away from them.

It's not a players thing. It's the FO and the way they've handled some things. They've made enemies of the press when they didn't need to. They've been wrong in some of their assertions/denials and then have had to back track. Their reason for having somebody taking photos of dugouts and such last year was poor at best. The decision to bring in Osuna, while fine from a baseball standpoint, was not handled very well from a PR standpoint. This move with Crane and the Ryans, while I agree with it and get it, doesn't look great either.
It's just a lot of things that have very poor optics or reflect some poor judgement from a reputation standpoint.
Personally I don't really care how we look outside of the city, but it's understanding why we are getting some of the negative attention. If we sucked nobody would care. But now we're good and we're attracting attention, good and bad. That's just how it goes.

But now we're good and we're attracting attention, good and bad. That's just how it goes. 1. Luhnow's trade of Giles for Osuna was a stroke of genius......we got rid of a nut job who cursed the manager on the field for a 24 year old closer who is one of the best in the game. He led the league in saves this season. Luhnow was not required to consult Verlander, McCullers, or any other player before making a trade to improve the team's chance of winning. It is the player's job to play not make personnel decisions. 2. I totally DISAGREE with Crane replacing Reid Ryan with his son that ended up alienating Nolan Ryan and causing him to break ties with the Astros. This was a bad PR blunder by Crane that will come back and bite him in the ass.

Yet, it will all be okay.

Giles being a nut job doesn't have anything to do with the fact that bringing in Osuna with his reported reputation was a bad look for the organization. It just was.
I'm not saying that's necessarily right, but it's a fact.
But again, from a baseball standpoint it was a solid move. It was just approximately the beginning of some of the negative attention we started acquiring.

Well then I guess I just don't care what people outside of the Houston area think. All I see is jealousy and envy and I give them all a middle finger salute.

I think it's sour grapes from a number of writers/players/execs. Doesn't mean they're completely wrong though.

Well, sure. No one cares about irrelevant teams. Our team was irrelevant for 50 years.

And if Fiers is all about doing what's right all of a sudden, how long until he gives up his WS ring? THat's still sitting in a display case at home, I bet. He probably pawned it off to tattoo the name “Mike” somewhere else on his body.

The Astros decided they didn’t care so much about negative publicity when they traded for Osuna, but they’d better start caring more if they want to become an attractive destination for players and upper management in the future.

What would be the repercussions if say a fan unaffiliated with the team (other than just being a die hard fan) was using binoculars from center to steal signs, and then telling his friend right next to him what the pitch was and the friend would wave a giant orange flag for certain pitches, and then the players caught on to what we were....I mean what they were doing? Would this be against the rules or extremely frowned upon?

We got the best end of the deal by a mile........Giles is a nut job who punches himself in the face.......Osuna led the AL in saves and NO EVIDENCE has been produced to prove he beat anybody. Luhnow made a hell of a trade to get him. Did we have a better option for a closer.........HELL NO. And, we still don't unless McCullers could do the job.

We had a couple of guys voice concern at the outset, but, from what I saw this season, there seems to be no problem. I didn't hear one complaint from Verlander when Osuna saved wins for him. I think being a part of our team and being in our clubhouse has been good for Osuna. There is not a better, CHEAPER, young closer in the game.

Projected at over 10 mil this year. He's probably gone via trade.

I'm talking about the general look to the public and the media when you make a move like that. It's going to attract negative attention. Which is fine. But don't complain when you get it. Here we are. We've gotten mostly nothing but negative attention this since it happened. I'm not saying it's the only cause, but it's what got the media focused on us for more than just baseball. It made us a "villain".

We also got a little bit of a poor reputation from the handling of Aiken if I remember right.
In any case, the best way to beat all this is to win. We'll get our fine and maybe lose a draft pick or three, but just move on and show people that we're good, period. Use it as motivation. Fans that didn't like us still don't like us, but it didn't take these allegations to make them not like us. They already didn't. That's what happens when you're good. Even before we won in 2017 people we're trying to paint us as villains with Yuli's whole chinito thing. That's just how it goes.
Win another pennant/championship or two in this run, and it won't matter.
