We also got a little bit of a poor reputation from the handling of Aiken if I remember right. In any case, the best way to beat all this is to win. We'll get our fine and maybe lose a draft pick or three, but just move on and show people that we're good, period. Use it as motivation. Fans that didn't like us still don't like us, but it didn't take these allegations to make them not like us. They already didn't. That's what happens when you're good. Even before we won in 2017 people we're trying to paint us as villains with Yuli's whole chinito thing. That's just how it goes. Win another pennant/championship or two in this run, and it won't matter. God, why did he have to do something so stupid? Not thinking things through in the heat of the moment. It didn't bother me then and it doesn't bother me now. This other attention now doesn't bother me that much either, outside of some Yankee sportswriters trying to say we don't deserve our championship. I just hope that whatever MLB announces is clear one way or the other so we can move on.

Here we are. We've gotten mostly nothing but negative attention this since it happened. I'm not saying it's the only cause, but it's what got the media focused on us for more than just baseball. It made us a "villain". If they want a villain so badly, let’s give them a villain. Time to wear the Black Hat. The FO and Bregman seem to share your opinion. I don't know how the other players feel. I'm sure we'll find out when they start getting hunted down by the media after their vacations. I appreciate Beltran speaking up immediately.

And for the record, this isn't even a top story on MLB.com or ESPN.com any more.
It will get a little more press when MLB makes their final announcement, and maybe a little more news when the season starts or when we play the Yankees, but, overall, this will barely be talked about after the 2020 season.
We're feeling this more because it's our team. Random Cardinals fan or Blue Jays fan, etc. don't care.

Did y'all notice most of our troubles started when Hunter McCormick joined the forum? Dude's a curse. Remind me who Aiken was and what he did.

Aiken part, I disagree with....If I recall correctly, MLB rules do not allow teams to have medical screening on players until after you draft them...Astros saw Aiken's results and saw he would be very susceptible to a major injury, and then wanted to renegotiate....he balked at it....and Astros were proven right about their fears, when he a Tommy John surgery the next year...he had elbow discomfort after pitching his first pitch at his first game....

I read everu word of it.......You seem to still be concerned abput bad publicity and how it was perceived in the clubhouse. We had a couple of guys voice concern at the outset, but, from what I saw this season, there seems to be no problem. I didn't hear one complaint from Verlander when Osuna saved wins for him. I think being a part of our team and being in our clubhouse has been good for Osuna. There is not a better, CHEAPER, young closer in the game. I never mentioned what the players thought. I'm talking about the general look to the public and the media when you make a move like that. It's going to attract negative attention. Which is fine. But don't complain when you get it. Here we are. We've gotten mostly nothing but negative attention this since it happened. I'm not saying it's the only cause, but it's what got the media focused on us for more than just baseball. It made us a "villain". We will keep getting negative attention as long as we keep contending with and beating the Yankees and Red Sox.

I was okay with it too, but there were people out there that said it wasn't handled well by the Astros FO.

Didn't Neshek and somebody else say that they would never work with anybody from the Astros FO again as well? It just seemed like sour grapes at the time, but now you have to wonder a little if something was going on even back then. I can't remember teh details.

Guys that we don't bring back seem to be the ones doing the talking...... Hmmm. Let's examine. 1 - Guys who were never part of the organization wouldn't have first-hand knowledge of any shenanigans (if there were any). 2 - Guys who are still part of the organization would have every reason to go into 'no comment' mode. 3 - Guys who are no longer part of the organization have no need to remain silent.

Brady Aiken was a high school pitcher who claimed the Astros lowballed him on a signing bonus because they told him he was a Tommy John surgery risk and thus chose to try for the following year’s draft. He later had Tommy John surgery.

Imagine a scenario where the Astros are found to have used a camera to cheat, and AJ Hinch and Jeff Luhnow receive a lifetime ban from baseball.
Gosh.

Won't happen for same reason Brady and Bellechick weren't banned for their transgressions. If MLB wants to go scorched earth on the team, every single sleazy detail of the game will be revealed for all 30 teams. Result....Game will be destroyed, especally if a strike is added to the equation. I saw one (ahem.... ) anonymous GM was quoted he would like to see Luhnow banned. Of course the cowardly son of a bitch bastard won't reveal his name.
