"Major League Baseball is set to bring forth an unprecedented set of penalties against the Astros organization in light of the sign-stealing scandal against them, Ken Rosenthal and Evan Drellich of The Athletic report. President of baseball operations/general manager Jeff Luhnow and manager A.J. Hinch will both be suspended for one year, per the report. The Astros will also lose their first- and second-round picks in each of the next two seasons and be fined the maximum $5MM that is allowable under the league’s constitution.
Punishment stemming from the 2017 sign-stealing scandal won’t stop with the Astros organization, either. ESPN’s Jeff Passan reports that “harsh” punishment will be levied against Red Sox manager Alex Cora as well."
So far from mbltraderumors.

larrybrownsports.com/baseball/illinois-congressman-hearings-astros-cheating-scandal/533741Illinois Congressman calls for hearings over Astros cheating scandalThe Houston Astros cheating scandal has now reached the halls of Congress. Representative Bobby Rush (D-Ill.) has formally requested a Congressional oversight hearing on both Houston’s cheating and MLB’s response to it. In a letter, he stated that it is Congress, specifically the Committee on Energy and Commerce, that is tasked with oversight of professional sports, and it was important to determine how much cheating is taking place in the sport and whether the league is addressing it quickly or severely enough.

This needs to end already. MLB doesn’t need any hand-holding.

The only good thing that could come from a congressional evaluation is perhaps implicating some of the media darlings, whom everyone knows are cheating.

Whit Merrifield can't hold Altuve's jock strap.

The o ly thing I've seen so far that I agreed with from a tweet was from Preston Wilson calling out McCann. McCann had started fights and been very vocal about playing baseball "the right way". And now he didn't speak up about it or anything yet.

Whit Merrifield can't hold Altuve's jock strap. He was a utility guy that got a chance to prove himself on a second division team to play regular and show what he can do. Tommy La Stella accomplished the same feat when given a chance to play regular with the Angels.

IMO Fiers has been carrying around resentment toward the Astros for leaving him off the playoff rosters in 2017 and then later non-tendering him. When he couldn’t get his revenge on the field playing for the A’s he chose to get his revenge through trashing the team through the media. Here’s a guy who cheated by using pine tar to doctor the ball in his no-hitter vs the Dodgers. Now he wants us to believe his motivation for outing the Astros is that he doesn’t think it right to cheat. Pfft. Please. As far as I can ascertain, he has not returned his 2017 WS Champions ring.

It isn’t that the Astros did something that hasn’t been going on for years that got them hammered. It’s that they were bold enough to do it in such blatant fashion AFTER the COB had warned the team’s that there would be serious repercussions in the future for violations of this nature. I expect Boston will receive similar punishment. If they don’t, then we have a gripe coming.

I really don't see how he can wear the WS Championship ring. Might as well put it on ebay.

Pine tar works great on throwing the breaking pitch, especially in upper 30 degree weather.

Nothing would please me more than to see an Astros hitter hit a line drive back up the middle that hit Fiers square in the mouth.
