I just found out an old acquaintance of mine was gunned down in the parking lot of his apartment last night. Life is precious. Don’t take anything for granted.
Just be alert. You just never know where the danger is. Stay safe, everyone.

I’m equal parts angry and sad. He told his girlfriend he got a call from someone he knew and was going to be back in a second. That was the last she saw of him.

People need to remember that gut feelings are there for a reason. I was pumping gas into my car late at night, and this crazy homeless man was walking around and yelling to himself. I immediately stopped what I was doing and got the heck out of there. |

People need to remember that gut feelings are there for a reason. I was pumping gas into my car late at night, and this crazy homeless man was walking around and yelling to himself. I immediately stopped what I was doing and got the heck out of there. Maybe it sounds corny, but I hope your friend's family gets answers soon (in terms of the police investigation) and finds healing, eventually. In the late 80s, I lost an uncle to a shooting and for years the local police (this was up in Missouri) lied to our family about why he was killed and who ordered the hit. Only years later did they admit that they were pressured to keep quiet about what they discovered because it turned out he was providing information to the FBI on money laundering activities he was aware of (he was working at a bank) and unbeknownst to him, the money launderers were part of the Iran Contra scandal. Turned out the Bush family had the hit put on him, and as that family was in power in Washington, the local cops were scared to speak out. Needless to say, that event made me rethink some of my political views. Though it didn't make me a Democrat either. |

I haven’t reached out yet to his girlfriend, but I will definitely take the wife and friends to visit her sometime soon. Your comment, “people need to remember that gut feelings are there for a reason,” made me recall a book I read years ago called, “The Gift of Fear,” by Gavin De Becker. Basically the guy says that we humans have a God-given ability to sense danger in the same way that animals do from signals in our environment that we are often not even aware of on a conscious level. Sadly we humans often ignore these signals. Very interesting read.....and an appropriate one for these times. |
