What's the new proposed playoff systeM? Expansion to include two more teams from each league with a 3-game series. No more wild card game. #1 seed gets a bye and then picks their opponent. I think that's actually better than the current playoff format. Gets rid of the one and done and an even better incentive to make the number one seed.

All sports change. I don't mind fairly minor rule changes now and then. I'm more annoyed by the new proposed playoff system. (Of course I don't like the current system with a one game playoff either.) What's the new proposed playoff systeM? From MLBTR: “Beginning in 2022, the first season after the current collective bargaining agreement expires, commissioner Rob Manfred and MLB could add two more playoff qualifiers per league. That means almost half of the sport (14 of 30 teams) would have some chance of reaching the World Series when the fall rolls around. But that’s not all – MLB would hand the No. 1 team in each league a first-round bye, the higher-seeded teams that don’t have byes would select their first-round opponents and those clubs would play three-game series in one city.”

The thing that makes it go over the top is the whole “picking your opponent” nonsense. This is the majors, not a playground.

It adds a new level of strategy.

If you're going to keep expanding the playoffs, then just start there and eliminate the regular season.

Before long, we'll be like the NBA...play year round and have every team in the playoffs.

Before long, we'll be like the NBA...play year round and have every team in the playoffs. And fans will abandon the regular season since it no longer has any relevance. The NBA would be dead if not for new foreign markets.

What’s the point in celebrating getting a postseason berth if nearly half the teams make it? They should reverse course and get rid of the wild card playoff.

The one rule change that should have been made will never come into being..............Outlaw the shift.

The one rule change that should have been made will never come into being..............Outlaw the shift. It's up to the players to BEAT the shift, not the league to outlaw it.
