ericcressey.com/pitching-injuries-lat-strainsIn a 2016 meta-analysis, researchers examined the existing body of research on latissimus dorsi and teres major strains in professional baseball pitchers. While the collective sample size was small (30 total athletes), one resounding theme was present: Lat strains can be pain in the butt to rehabilitate. In these studies, 29 pitchers were managed conservatively, while one pitcher required surgery for the issue. In the conservative group, the average return-to-pitching timeline was 100 days, whereas the surgical case was 140 days." Perhaps of more significance, though, the researchers noted that "five patients in the conservative group suffered from complications and/or setbacks during their treatment and rehabilitation."

Morton was out a month in 2017 rehabbing a lat strain. That was a fortunate recovery in spite of his injury history up to that point

If anyone can recover well from it at this point, I'd have to believe JV would be that guy.

Astros and Nationals have played 2 innings so far today. McCullars has thrown just 13 pitches...all for strikes. Strasburg has thrown just 8 pitches.... all for strikes. 21 pitches combined through 2 innings. You won’t see that very often.

Those last three outs seem to suck for the Astros this spring.

6-run 8th inning put up by the Nats against our MiLB pitchers. If the idiot who is mayor of Houston stops the Astros from playing at hone due to this so-called coronavirus, the pitchers have more time to get ready.

At the rate things are going I can't see how they will play games in Houston before mid-April at the earliest.

Seattle, and (I think) SF have announced that their opening series will not be played at their home stadiums.
Also, I am not at all surprised that Corch thinks the COVID-19 pandemic is a "so-called" problem. Walmart must have a hell of a time keeping foil in stock in his hometown.

Maybe "corona" is what Corch has a problem with. If they called it the Chop Suey virus he'd be okay with that

The correa virus hit this board a long time ago. My cousin called me the other day from Caldwell, and told me to come on down. I told him when the vet clears his cows, hogs, chickens and goats I might take him up on it.

I am not dumb enough not to think that this "pandemic" is not being blown up to be more than it is. I'm sure the upcoming election has nothing to do with it .........We have one of these new 'viruses" at least every two years........Ebola, H1N1. etc.......all designed to effect the outcome of an election. We went from the Russians.....to impeachment........to this crap.

It would be a blessing if the NBA permanently disbanded.

Corona virus is a killer, no doubt. Especially to the immunocompromised population, the older folks, folks who already have lung problems and young kids. I will say this, though: the flu kills far more people every year. The worst bug I ever heard of was the Spanish flu of the 1910's. Killed millions. While it is a killer, I think the dangers have been overblown. They need to stick with the facts, not sensationalism. They're running this into the ground like the coverage of the Astros.
