I’m hoping that Springer gets back to his pre-injury self. When he came back last year, he was looking lost at the plate. He was one of our stars looking extremely outmatched in the postseason. I know he’s a streaky player, but he almost looked like he barely knew how to hold a bat or stand in the box at times. He looked bewildered and looking like he expected to strike out or fail with that body language. My fear is that he benefitted significantly from the cheating. I really wish that isn’t the case. He had an OPS of .862 in July, .940 in August, and then 1.084 in Sept. I'm not too worried about him. He also tore it up in the WS again after a slow start in the ALDS/ALCS. I was referring to the postseason mostly.

The scandal may allow us to advance a competitive free agent offer for George, depending if suitors are similarly concerned I hope so. I also think it’s nut-cutting time for Tucker. Put up or shut up. They won't find out if he can handle it full time if he sits in the dugout watching Reddick play every day.

Put up or shut up. I agree with you on Tucker. It looks like Straw intends to win a spot on the opening day roster. I hope he does. Whitley is another one who is approaching nut-cutting time. He has regressed rather than progressed toward MLB the last two seasons.

I’m pulling for Stubbs as well. He has shown in the minors that he can play LF, if necessary. He can really help his chances of sticking with the team if he shows he can handle 2B if needed. Because of his size, I don’t see him ever being able to catch 140 games a yesr, but I think he can make an excellent backup.

There's just something about the approach of "putting on weight and not working out as much" that doesn't seem beneficial to me...

What an interesting utility player Stubbs could make. C, 2B, and LF? That's REAL utility.

Whitley's problem is obvious. When he got caught taking adderall and had to stop...his performance tanked. They need to find an excuse, within the rules, to get him a prescription. Like Trout did with HGH or whatever.

Tucker needs to be given the RF job to lose. Straw, Tucker, and Stubbs should make the roster. I still don't know why we wanted Dustin Garneau. I agree with Bortaz about getting Whitley a prescription for adderall.
If Tucker, Straw, Stubbs, and Whitley are all ready....we should be in great shape.

On the subject of rule changes..........since relief pitchers now have to face a minimum of 3 hitters unless they get the final out of an inning, it seems to me that the reliever should face the scheduled hitter at the time he comes in so the opposing manager cannot pinch hit for the hitter.

What's interesting is the timeline on how the buzzer story escalated from pure fiction to factual in the eyes of the public. It literally started from a fake burner account on twitter (that also accused the Yankees of stealing signs with cameras from their bullpen but whatevs), that then Jomboy and Bauer ran with it claiming they had heard people say that. Suddenly that made it all fact, and Altuve not wanting his jersey ripped off (again) is the proof that seals it.

Stubbs with another good showing today. 1-1 with a RBI and a stolen base.

I know we need lots of pitchers in ST, but, we are wasting time with Hughes and Sneed.

I know we need lots of pitchers in ST, but, we are wasting time with Hughes and Sneed. I don’t know anything about Hughes, but I can tell you from observing Sneed in his minor league career... the guy is like that box of chocolates. You never know what you are going to get from him. Pull his page up online and look at his game logs from recent years in the minors. He may give you 7 - 9 innings of shutout ball one game and follow that up 5 runs in one inning the next game..... and he will do this all season long.

Sneed seems to be the prototypical AAAA pitcher. He's not quite good enough to make it OD, but he's the first guy up when there is an injury or two and you need somebody to eat some innings that won't completely embarrass you.
