In other news, masks are now required in stores in San Diego. But I don't think this is what they had in mind.

World-wide 4,660,000 infected, 312,000 deaths (6.7%). U.S. 1,500,000 cases, 89,500 deaths (5.96%,). Texas 45,200 cases, 1,272 deaths (2.8%). I suspect the numbers to narrow over the next 6 weeks or so, with TX death % rising. Or maybe it just doesn't kill Texans at the same rate.

The problem with these numbers is the infected and case numbers are very under reported. probably by a factor of 50-100 according to antibody testing. The mortality rate is falling like a rock because there are so many people getting it and having no or next to no symptoms. Additional testing only catches active cases so we're catching a larger percentage than we were. It does not mean that NEW actual cases are growing.
I'm getting extremely tired of seeing manipulated statistics used for political scare tactics.

I can agree with much of this, but unlike yourself I've seen and taken care of people who have been affected by it. I've seen up close and personal what this bug can do. IMO the economic damage will be worse than the disease, but don't think for a second this bug isn't a killer because it certainly is.

The Medical community and politicians have conspired to kill as many as possible by withholding and slandering a treatment through rigged studies so they can implement universal ID through vaccination, AKA thee mark of the beast.

Don't know if it's rigged or not; I have no evidence either way. I guess as a member of the "medical establishment" that I didn't get the memo and have been left out of the conspiracy. However I have seen more than one normally healthy 20/30-something drown in their own fluid even after EVERY pharmacological and ventilatory support device had been tried. Unless you have some iron-clad proof that isn't of the dodgy variety seen on YouTube, etc. then I'd be careful in casting stones. My own take is the disease and the political reaction to it has been terribly overblown. I believe the numbers are inflated concerning the death rate. Politicians have done unnecessary harm to the economy and by extension the citizenry. Perhaps there is some nefarious intent; I wouldn't know. I do know that this disease frickin kills some people while barely affecting others. That is the nature of contagion.

I do know that this disease frickin kills some people while barely affecting others. That is the nature of contagion. If that patient received the Hydroxychloroquine, Erythromycin and Zinc before they were ventilated and couldn't recover, it would be the first case I've heard of. So far the studies have been restricted to patients with one foot in the grave already or in absurdly high or low doses or without the zinc. It's as if they're designing the study to find failure. But I'm sure that after 70 years, there have to be some patients who have reacted poorly without use for years, but for five days. I'm sure use as a Malaria prevention/mitigation without a worldwide outrage until it's proposed use for COVID-19 has nothing to do with the Billions Big Pharma intends to make from the PANIC.
But if you have evidence to the contrary, I'd love to hear it. One definite piece of information coming out of this is that ventilators are seldom successful in recovery after a week.
I'm not a Doctor, but I do know quite a bit about how studies are manipulated to please the highest bidder/Grant Funder. SCIENCE is for sale and has been for over fifty years. Both Science and Journalism have been thoroughly discredited by their own actions.

And I'm sure you have access to information on every case, from your single-wide trailer in the swamps of Beaumont.

But I do live very near the swamps. But I'm not brainwashed by the SWAMP. If you have legitimate studies or personal knowledge, let me have it. But I doubt it. Usually it's just repetitious repeats of the narrative of the day.

Dear heavens, where to begin. The efficacy of plaquenil is inconclusive. It seems to work for some and does bupkis for others. Patients have died taking combinations of the 3 drugs you mentioned. Zithromax helps some, too. Medicine has something called "evidence-based practice". In other words, proclaiming a cure based on internet articles won't cut it. The data to back up your claims has to be documented, subjected to testing and verified. Anectdotal don't cut it. And there's quite a bit you "haven't heard of".
We've known for some time that positive-pressure ventilation doesn't seem to work. Mostly we pour oxygen to them and have them lie prone.
Big pharma has done corrupt things. I agree. But they also manufacture the chemicals that both save and prolong lives. Again, if you have anything beyond hearsay and supposition please present it. Science is corrupt. Agree there, too. But I'm going to let you on a secret: any organization (or civilization, for that matter) of man is either going to be corrupt, is corrupt, or was destroyed by corruption. It's inevitable. Doesn't mean they can't offer valuable contributions.
My Dad taught me many valuable lessons. Among those were never argue science with a scientist, never argue law with a lawyer and never argue medicine with a doctor. Any of the three might be wrong, but they know more than you do. You seem to make a habit of having a concrete opinion based on supposition. I'm done with this because frankly, debating someone who doesn't know what they're talking about is pointless.

Dear heavens, where to begin. You did a fine job with that. Well balanced and based in logic. I personally have no problem hearing opinions that suggest our government has made mistakes or that illuminate the necessity for balancing the attempt to reduce the spread of COVID-19 with the need for keeping our economy functioning. But the tinfoil hat crowd would like to write it all off as a conspiracy. Boring AF, as well as including flat-out lies. I'm done with this because frankly, debating someone who doesn't know what they're talking about is pointless. I hope you're not done with the rest of us. And kudos for taking the high road ( "someone who doesn't know what they're talking about") rather than the easy way (references to fecal matter).

I'm not very smart to begin with (as most here would probably agree), but it seems pretty obvious to me that this virus is legitimate and a concern. I think it's mostly a concern for those in certain risk groups, but, like with any medical issue, everybody responds differently whether healthy or not. There are no absolutes.
That being said, this is certainly being weaponized by a lot of the media and some politicians around the world for less than ethical reasons.
I just hope that we're learning something from this for the future when there is an even worse virus with a higher fatality rate that spreads just as easily.

I've already stated on this thread that this bug is far from the worst one that has been seen. Spanish flu of 100 years ago and SARS of just over a decade ago were worse. Pneumonic plague (yersenia pestis) has a mortality rate of 100% left untreated. And yes, politicians and journalists are having a field day spreading innuendo and half-truths. The collective freak-out that has accompanied this illness has been way overblown IMO. However, those it adversely affects (and there's really no way to know for sure who will be susceptible) it seems to really whack hard. There are nearly 90 American nurses who are dead from taking care of patients who gave them the illness despite their precautions. So instead of talking conspiracy theory (which may even be valid) and ushering in the New World Order (which is definitely valid), it would be better to appreciate medical staff for the hazards of their occupation rather than think everyone who wears a pair of scrubs is part of a grand scheme overseen by evil overlords.

Biologicals can (and have been) be weaponized. Anthrax immediately comes to mind. But I don't think that's what you're implying here. 'Politicized' is probably what you meant to say.
