www.mlbtraderumors.com/2020/03/evan-gattis-retirement.htmlNot a surprise, but at least we know he is no longer an option of any kind. While he was never an amazing player for us, he was a modestly productive offensive performer as an Astro and had his share of cool moments. He ended up averaging the below numbers as an Astro as a DH and a (about) league-average defensive backup catcher: 24 HR 73 RBI 54 Runs .245/.298/.471 .769 OPS 109 OPS+He also had a respectable .858 OPS in our 2017 postseason run.

One of my favorite memories of Gattis' was his 11 triples in 2015. That is just insane for a guy of his size and stature.

I liked Gattis and think the Astros screwed him over.......letting him go and keeping a bum like Stassi was inexcusable. You people still bashing Marisnick are pathetic.

I’m tired of our guys apologizing. Nothing will be enough to satisfy the haters. Time to stop groveling and say “piss on all of you.”

Time to stop groveling and say “piss on all of you.” If the season gets cancelled, I wouldn't mind seeing Yuli, Bregs, Correa & George own up a bit more to what they did. If anything their actions caused an elite manager and GM to be displaced from the organization, as well as a few teammates to get plunked during ST that had nothing to do with it
Especially George. Out of those four I consider him to be the leader

Their worst mistake was choosing Bregman’s retarded ass as team spokesman.

Springer is neck and neck with Correa for second biggest leader on the team. I was impressed with Carlos’s candid defense of his teammates and for not sticking with the 3rd grade book report speeches of Bregman and Altuve.

I will say it again.........George Springer is the MVP and heart and soul of the Astros and every effort must be made to re-sign him.,

His age and sporadic health issues are the concern with him. I can't see him getting more than Goldschmidt, and St. Louis will probably come to regret that contract as well.

George Springer is worth every bit of what we pay Altuve.

I can't see him getting more than Goldschmidt, and St. Louis will probably come to regret that contract as well. I reckon St Louis is already regretting that contract. During his first year (2019) under contract with them, his OPS+ was a mere 113. While still well above league average, that's a far cry from the 145 he was averaging in previous years. Plus with the loss of revenue every team will experience in 2020, every team is likely to be in the red for the year. Those with high payrolls will feel it more than the 'budget' teams. Does anyone in their right mind think FA contracts written after this season will be at the same salary levels we saw last winter? I certainly don't.

Every time you think there is some kind of sanity dealing with salaries is being brought back to the game, you will find again there is a drunk and stupid owner and GM that will up the ante. The Yankees will never learn.
