I don't think there's a government conspiracy, but I do think there are a number of political agendas at play that are not helping this situation.
The media (and social media) are the main problems though.

Being from East Texas means that I unfortunately have a few hundred rednecks on my friends list who daily post 200 posts about the gubmint kinspeersy tryn ta take are rites. No doubt that all the cabbage pickers down in the valley are much more intelligent than us old East Texas rednecks...........I am a proud East Texas redneck wbo has enough sense not to believe all this propaganda being thrown at us by CNN, CBS, NBC, ABC, MSNBC, and the major newspapers. Inflated numbers regarding the coronavirus are being given out daily. Deaths caused by most anything is now being credited to the virus. The democrats are going to spread one lie after another to try and keep the economy from recovering and hurt Trump. This is a last desperate attempt at keeping Trump from winning a second term. No doubt that this virus is a problem, but, not to the extent we are being told by the media. Democrats vote to hold up a stimulus bill to keep the economy from recovering. I don't know about a "kinspeersy" but I know a lot of outright lies are being told. Some dumbass governors are reopening public parks but say only FIVE people can be there at one time and they have to stay 6 feet apart. LOL LOL Abbott rules that liquor stores are ESSENTIAL but says churches should stay closed. Some liberal governors are allowing mosques to remain open so as not to offend Muslims but keep churches closed. People on facebook can do what I do.......if I don't want someone to remain on my friends list, I unfriend them. I have had many panty-waisted liberals unfriend me and I laugh and say good riddance. |

There will always be a political component to any issue but I think the President did and excellent job of framing this crisis in a non-partisan way at the onset. For the most part, the Democrats have not made this a political issue but the extremists like Bernie and Nancy have taken advantage of political opportunities. The liberal media, on the other hand, has been quick to make this political. And of course on the social media scene, there will always be big idiots who look at whether the elected representative has (R) or (D) next to their name to determine if they are right or wrong. And whether an individual person is from the North or South (or East or West) so they can assume which side of the political aisle they sit, and cast the necessary aspersions. There have been numerous accusations made by people who would like to think all disagreements are inherently political, in an attempt to polarize. If, in passing, you toss out a hook like "redneck" in one venue, or " Communist Democrat" in another, there will be someone who jumps on that like a fat kid on a cookie. What unfolds after that is generally entertaining. |

Our government is NOT benevolent. Always remember that. Some? Yes. All? Of course not. Closing non-essential business did have a profound effect on slowing the spread of this deadly virus. That allowed time for the needed PPE and life-saving equipment like ventilators to be distributed. And it prevented the medical infrastructure from being suddenly overloaded. Many deaths were averted, but even so, many still died. Meanwhile, many wage earners were unable to work and get paid. They're struggling to make mortgage payments and put food on their family's table. They are unable to work as a direct result of government actions. Does the government have a responsibility to mitigate some of the hardships their action caused? Definitely. Is handing everyone two stacks a month just because they have a pulse, the answer? Definitely not. |
