My mom passed away in 2011. Still miss her and most especially on Mother's Day.

Mom was a remarkable woman. She earned a college degree in the 40's, which was unusual for a woman at the time. She was the oldest of 7 kids and outlived all her siblings. Raised 5 kids and taught us all to not only try, but to succeed. She was both very smart and very funny. My father once worked for a company that fixed appliances. Her washing machine died and she kept after my father to fix it. He never would. So she called the dispatcher at his company and he was sent on a service call to his own house to fix his own washing machine. She always found a way. She was from Peavy Switch in Hudson (Lufkin). Abregmanfan will know where that is.

The realities of life and death are things we're all forced to deal with whether we're ready or not. Life isn't fair at all. Anyone who thinks so deludes themselves.

The realities of life and death are things we're all forced to deal with whether we're ready or not. Life isn't fair at all. Anyone who thinks so deludes themselves. Soon after a loss, it's necessary to grieve. There is no escaping that. But there comes a time when grief begins to fade and we can appreciate the joy of what we once had.
But yeah, 2020 sucks harder than a hoover plugged into a 200v outlet.

My mom grew up dirt poor in the sticks. If they didn't grow it or kill it they didn't eat. She had some country sayings that were hilarious. If she didn't like a singer she'd say, "If they were singing for a lumber yard they wouldn't get a knothole". Or, "I could whip a dog with a stick and make better music". She had lots of those sayings for a wide variety of situations. She made it to 90 and was never dependant on anyone. She and my dad were at the lake house. She was doing a table-top puzzle when her head fell over. She had a massive MCA stroke and died 34 days later. I can only smile when I think of her.

She had some country sayings that were hilarious. My great-great granddaddy used to say: You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose ...
... but ya can't wipe your friends on the couch.
