Acquired by the Tigers in a July trade from the Pirates in 2015, he was originally slated to be a shortstop or utility man. The Tigers converted him to a Centerfielder.
He's not a star, just glad to have a chance to play baseball. During his first few years in the major, he struggled at the plate. Sometimes good, but definitely inconsistent. This year he seems to be on track. He's high on the MLB leaderboard in slugging pct (.786) and OPS+ (221). Right now, he's the best batter on the team. He bats ninth.
Here are a couple of clips from his highlight reel...

Well he's basically improved each year not counting his brief appearance in 2016. Obviously he won't sustain this current trend, but there doesn't appear any reason he couldn't be an above-average player this year and/or in the near future.

Channeling your inner Corch? You can't deny that the name is reminiscent of the Afrocentric tendencies in these here United States of Murrica. I mean, Jacoby is a fairly common name. But his black mama (or daddy) didn't just name him Jacoby.

WB Justin. Tigers doing pretty well wanna buy some veterans? lol Does VooDoo have you selling this year? I think it will be a few years before the Tigers are in buying mode. But they're providing more watchable games than they did last year. They've even come back to win from some serious deficits. I don't have any postseason expectations but seeing some of the youth develop makes them fun to watch. Also picked up some budget veterans from the FA market over the winter to add some stability this season. CJ Cron got injured. Fingers crossed, he'll be back soon.
