Yuck! I made snickerdoodles. Snickerdoodle is good, but Peanut Butter is king. Snickerdoodle, peanut butter, oatmeal, or chocolate chip.......all great.

Sparky doesn’t think Springer is all the way better with the wrist, judging by the way he’s letting go of the bat during his swings. I don't understand how you can stand to listen to that mushmouth. I tolerated Milo so I could listen to Sparks if necessary. The only time I go to the radio broadcast is if weather knocks out the satellite signal for awhile.

Solid pitching and some timely hitting for once.......we need more of this.

I’ll take Ford/Sparks over Hamilton/Ashby any day of the week. And I’d take them both over Dolan/Raymond.

They were the bomb. Either because they were really good or because we were poor as dirt and rarely had treats.

Sparks does indeed suck. And his voice is annoying.
I'm sure it's all in my head because I don't care for Cintron as a hitting coach, but our hitters appear to be having some better approaches at the plate the last couple of games...

Look we need to keep the Keebler Elves/Snow White Darves type of names associated with the team: Sparks, Click and Dusty.

The team sticks with shitty players forever if they have a cute nickname or some other schtick.

His call of Gurriel tying the game against Kershaw was one of the worst calls ever.

All of you who hate Sparks missed out on his best calls...drunk in the locker room during celebrations. He’d be a great dude to have beers with for sure.

Once she had enough, she would make some kind of cinnamon pecan bread with them. One of my favorite memories is coming home from school and smelling that cinnamon in the air. I never realized we were poor until I got older. By then, my dad's business had taken off and we were doing much better. My older sisters had to bare the brunt of the poverty years.

Many a summer day in my childhood, we had saltine crackers and mayo to eat. We'd eat it in the middle of the day and have no breakfast or supper. Some days, we didn't have that if we ran out of crackers or mayo. Don't remember going 2 days without, though, as my mom always found something. As a result of growing up so poor, I have a psychological need to hoard food. When I go shopping, I don't buy 1 can of soup...I buy 10. Dawn noticed it right after we met and asked me about it. It's a psychological defense against ever looking in that pantry and seeing nothing but cobwebs.

We were never poor poor like any of that, but we had a couple lean years. It's interesting how things change over time though. One day we have one small TV and no cable or computers. Now we watch the Astros on a 75 inch TV while my daughter tries to decide who's iPad she wants to play on.
Anybody remember watching the Astros games on Channel 20?

Anybody remember watching the Astros games on Channel 20? Yes, and it would be like an event to catch games on regular tv. It felt lucky when you saw them win.

I remember eating vegetable beef soup for lunch nearly every day when I was in high school. Mother bought it by the case.

I remember watching the Astros on Channel 20 when I lived in the Bryan-College Station area in the 80's and early 90's. I saw that game when Kerry Wood was untouchable that afternoon at Wrigley Field, pver 20 K's if I remember corrrectly.

We were eating it because that was all we owned with no prospects of getting anything else at any given moment. Certainly had nothing "by the case".

I saw that game when Kerry Wood was untouchable that afternoon at Wrigley Field, pver 20 K's if I remember corrrectly. Did you ever eat at Sodalak's Beefmasters restaurant in Bryan? Man, that's a good place to eat. Yes, I ate their several times. It was The Red Bandana when I moved there and then became Sodolak's. Sodolak's orginally started in an old run-down house in Lyon, a few miles west of Bryan. Then, it moved to Snook. The one in Snook is still there and is still the better of the two, Even after the one in Bryan opened, a lot of folks (especially A&M students) still came to Snook and often had to line up outside and wait for a table. Tney had a third location by the Hilton in College Station but it may be closed by now. The owner, Frank Sodolak, passed away from cancer a few years ago. Those people serve huge steaks, chicken fried steak, and lots of other good stuff. Very few people can eat on of their large steaks or CF steaks at one sitting. Best kolaches to be found anywhere is in Snook, west of College Station.
