It's getting late to rehab in time to be effective this year. Any setback and he probably won't make it. A month to get on the mound and throw at practice speed. A couple of weeks to get game ready and we're in the playoffs. There's just no room for a setback.

We really just need to get him healthy in time for the postseason. There is no reason to rush him with the way our young guys and Greinke are throwing right now.

We really just need to get him healthy in time for the postseason. There is no reason to rush him with the way our young guys and Greinke are throwing right now. Right now, we need to concentrate on making the playoffs and having a healthy Verlander ready to go at that time. That is a big question mark right now. We also need a healthy Bregman and Brantley. With a healthy Verlander, I am confident our pitching can stand up against anyone if we don't incur more injuries. We won't have Osuna so Pressly need to be healthy and ready to close. With the arrival of Valdez as a quality starter, throw him in with JV and Greinke and we have three starters. I still want to see McCullers tried as the closer if we can afford to take him out of the rotation. The progress of Javier and Bielak could make that possible. Getting a healthy Peacock back for the pen would be a bonus. |
