I would say the Pick for Coach was not in the best interest of the Team. Their Play shows it. I was totally against hiring Baker from the beginning for the reasons we have seen.........can't handle pitching and is about as enthusiastic as a rock. As many pitchers as we have sent up and down, why the hell has Sneed stayed on the roster if Dusty knows what he is doing? ridiculous.

Y'all really think Baker has much to do with what actually happens? Come on. I would bet money that he's basically being told what to do. He may give some old school input, but he's just a figurehead.
The team has been mediocre because:
A. Our rotation was based almost completely around Verlander and Greinke duplicating their results from last year. JV has been out and Greinke has been good not great.
B. Most of our offensive players have either had injuries or have played thru serious slumps (or are currently slumping). In a full year, most of this would likely balance out....but it's not going to be a full year.
C. Our bullpen has been hurt, opted out, or completely ineffective. I'm sure they expected some ineffectiveness, but they didn't expect to not have Smith or Osuna at all.
D. Yordan was expected to be the heart of this lineup and hit 30+ HRs.
The team has not been mediocre because of our manager. If anything, if they somehow manage to keep a winning record and make it into the playoffs when 70+% of their pitchers have never played a full season in the majors and our most consistent offensive player has been a 23 year old with a .258 AVG, I'd say Baker deserves a little bit of credit. And I don't even like the guy.

The pitchers are injury-riddled and the relief core is a trash heap because Dusty is a bad manager who can't manage a pitching staff

Loser couldn't even do it for a third of a season which shouldn't be that hard

And I don't even like the guy. A. Our rotation has shown to be weaker than it is because of the pressure they feel not to give up runs because our pathetic offense hasn't scored enough runs. The injuries have allowed us to see that Urquidy, Valdez, and possibly Javier can be counted on in the future as solid starters. B. Altuve was not producing before he was injured and has been in a season-long slump and Bregman and Springer haven't been much better. Yuli hs worn out. Correa has been hot and cold. Reddick has not been very good. The highlight of the offense has been Kyle Tucker. C. Joe Smith wimping out and deciding to sit home on his ass as had little effect on the pen. He was inconsistent at best. Losing Osuna has had the biggest effect on the pen. Pressly is a good set-up man but an inconsistent closer. Peacock has basically been out all year. We have found Paredes, Taylor, Raley, and Scrubb who have shown a lot of promise. One way to improve the pen is to forget that Devenski, Biagini, and Sneed live on this planet.......All three suck. D.The loss of Yordan has had the most effect on our offense being pathetic. Pull him out of the middle of that lineup and it suffers greatly. We have a mediocre manager who has never managed a WS team and we see why. He isn't to blame for injuries to pitchers or anyone else, but, he is responsible for using the wrong relievers at the wrong time and costing us game with his bonehead decisions. I don't see anything that Baker deserves credit for doing. He isn't responsible for the development of Kyle Tucker or the emergence of some young pitching. s

Another normal day at the office for Altuve........0-4 with another K. Batting average is a great .213, OBP .279 SLG. .311 It has been a struggle but he has finally managed to reach the same number of strikeouts as hits at 35.
On the other hand, George had two home runs to up his total to 13 which is SIX more than Altuve and Bregman combined. Jose has 3 and Alex has 4. All three have been out with injuries at one time or another. George's 28 runs batted in are only THREE less than Altuve and Bregman's combined total of 31.
Kyle Tucker is still the offensive player of the year for the Astros.

Yesterday he had just as good a chance at 2-4 hitting the ball that way. But you're right, George had a great day. He'll be a good player for another team that can afford him. Too bad he doesn't want to stay an Astro and sign an extension with us the multiple times the FO tried, the way Altuve and Bregman did. He'll average 120 games a season for another team that will overlook his cheating for a few years before his back gives out from the excessively giant swings he takes.

Aren't we all thankful that Jose and Alex used the sign-stealing to get top dollar, long term deals? Bad old George didn't so we don't care if he leaves. I'd gladly trade Altuve if it meant we could keep George.

Carlos is looking like Hoochie Coochie girl gave him another massage. All will be good because we still have Saint's little half pint second baseman who can't find his ass with both hands.
