Sure, but he has a .777 OPS for his postseason career. It's not amazing, but it's not bad. The only player we have a .900+ OPS is Altuve. Since ‘17 when more of the spotlight shone on him, he’s faded in the postseason. They need power from him but most importantly the ability to drive in runs. How many runs did he drive in against the Rays? He hasn't faded; he's just gotten more inconsistent. He's had a few big moments, and he had some horrible luck the first few games of this ALCS. I really don't think it's a major issue.

I heard Hinch refer to Bregman as being "like a son to me" more than once. If Hinch did have a pet, I can understand it being George over Alex because Hinch was smart enough to know that George was the MVP, the key to the offense, and sparked the team. When he was out, the offense suffered. But, from what I kept hearing Hinch say, I assumed Alex was his pet. George, Jose, and Carlos are the cornerstones of the team. Bregman is a key part who failed miserably in the post season. He hit .400 during the ALDS. I think people need to calm down a little. He shit in the floor during the ALCS. Everytime he had a chance to deliver, he struck out or hit into a DP.

My point is of the Core Four, only two have lucrative contracts, him included, and the other three really stepped up while he stayed hidden in the background. If they even had a single RBI from him in the ALCS, they might’ve advanced to the current World Series. He’s a star player, and he’s got to stop fading when they need him.

I mean I know he doesn’t like the outside strikes because they’re harder to drive with authority, but pitchers see that and punish him for it. Part of being a great hitter is making adjustments. If they’re getting you out, find a different way to get on. Getting 4 hits (all singles) in 28 at-bats against the Rays with one walk and zero RBI is not good. His team deserves more than that.

If he had been bad all season and ALDS long, I might agree. He had a down year with a 116 OPS+ and hit .400 in the first playoff series. I'm just not going to worry about that.

Bregman slumped in the ALCS, but, I have to wonder what is wrong with Yuli. He was terrible for a long time. I seem to recall some type of injury but I don't remember what it was. Not having either of those guys producing really hurt.

If anyone can say they watched Alex come up to bat in the ALCS with runners on base and DIDN'T think "aww, shit...it's Bregman. Inning over.", they're a damned liar.

He had four singles against Tampa, and I’m pretty damn sure no one was on base each time. Not a good look for a middle of the order run producer.

I don't think anyone is arguing that he didn't have a bad ALCS. Bigger picture though, the guy has been pretty damn good overall. Bordering on being a superstar if he can be a little more consistent.

I remember now that you said it......that could explain why he wasn't hitting if the wrist was still bothering him.

The fact that he had been so good is why we had to wonder why the horrible ALCS. I am not holding a bad regular season against any of them since the whole thing was strange from start to finish........positive testing for the virus, boycotting a game due to the BLM bullshit, no Verlander, Osuna, or Alvarez. All things considered, we were lucky to get as far as we did. I don't think any of us expected them to get to the ALCS. After Correa's walk off in game 5, I thought we'd win it and go to the WS but Charlie Morton took care of that. I hope Crane thinks of that all winter.

He never was. Altuve and Springer have been the backbone of this team for years. Bregman is still very good and will bounce back, but he's not THE GUY yet. You would figure his 2018 season was his superstar breakout. The numbers were fantastic.

I expect moving forward we'll see a combination of his 2017-2018 seasons if he stays healthy.
