Truly great organizational structures are conceived by brilliant big picture sort of guys like Crane and operated by brilliant operations guys like Luhnow seemed to be. The problem here as I see it was that Luhnow was brilliant in many ways but had a fatal flaw. He did not understand or did not care that winning at any cost forces those with weak character to take short cuts.
