Should we be less excited, since we are losing game 1, but be totally pumped for Game 2 thru Game 162, by winning each one?

Fresh off signing a 5-yr./$175k deal, Correa hits 4 home runs in the 6th inning to lead the Astros to a 47-2 victory over the Athletics. Mike Fiers gets the loss.

Should we be less excited, since we are losing game 1, but be totally pumped for Game 2 thru Game 162, by winning each one? Why are we losing game one? I know Altuve should not be leading off, but, I think we can still win the game. Since Dusty is hell bent on leading him off, i hope he shows more plate discipline. One advantage to it is he can't hit into a first inning DP to kill an inning. I didn't care for what Dusty said in the post-game today about having McCormick in CF if Straw can't go. I didn't realize McCormick had the skills to cove CF.

The biggest change is Altuve at leadoff, here are some of his career numbers as a leadoff hitter:
1st AB of a game: .330/.374/.527 (.900 OPS) Total as a leadoff hitter: .315/.363/.464 (.827 OPS)

My concern is his lack of plate discipline. A plus is that he can't hit into a DP to kill a chance to score in the first inning I disagree with Tucker batting that far down in the lineup.

They're spreading out the lefties. Makes sense. If he hits he'll get moved up. Who do you think should hit lower than him?

Spreading out the lefties makes perfect sense. Glad to know Dusty can see how important that should be. I hope Jose proves me wrong about not being who we need leading off. My hope is that Straw can prove to be the leadoff hitter we need due to that speed.

I will go ahead and call a bomb for our team mvp, Jose Altuve. He may develop into our team mvp this year and in the future, but, George Springer was the MVP of the Astros before leaving. He was the offensive star of the 2017 WS and proved it by winning the MVP of that series. I hope he hits less than .200 in Toronto. LOL

The concern with batting Altuve leadoff is his tendency to have prolonged slumps as he's gotten older

The concern with batting Altuve leadoff is his tendency to have prolonged slumps as he's gotten older True. He also gets himself out too often. Many pitchers have figured out how to get him out without ever throwing him a strike. He is not what I like in a leadoff hitter.

I personally would try Tucker there.

Me neither but he’s all we’ve got until something better comes along. I personally would try Tucker there. According to Astros.com, Altuve leads off. The rest of the lineup is the same as Saint projected with two exceptons. Tucker is batting 4th and Yordan 6th. We don't have a typical leadoff hitter unless Straw proves he can do it. That is what I'm hoping for because I think we have a better lineup if he can do it.

I would like to Straw to be the leadoff hitter, if he can get on base at a high clip and if Altuve is going more to power than contact. If it's 30HR+ Altuve than 200 Hit Altuve, and if Straw can get on base at .365+, then this is what I would hope the lineup would be after the All-Star break 1. Straw 2. Brantley 3. Altuve 4. Bregman 5. Alvarez 6. Correa 7. Tucker 8. Yuli 9. Maldonado
