Tucker... 0-5 with 9 LOB
Wow.

I’m starting to have doubts about Tucker. After what he showed last year, I think it's way too early to doubt Tucker. In fact, he lead the team in homers and runs batted in. He is in a slump. We had the table set in the 9th to win the game. Dawson, Castro, and Straw all get on base for the guys who were supposed to produce runs. We get a pop fly from Brantley and two third called strikes with the bases loaded. I don't think they minded walking Yuli to force in that run.

Tucker... 0-5 with 9 LOB Wow. That is terrible, but, others left runners on base, too. Diaz and Brantley both had bad at bats in the 9th. Toro ended the 8th with the bases loaded by hitting into a DP. Tucker left them on, but, he had help. The plate umpire was also horrible.

All I’m saying is if they continue to lay off outside strikes, they’ll keep getting them. It’s not the pitcher’s job to give our hitters pitches down the middle. It didn’t matter what our guys threw, the Tigers made lemonade out of lemons. This series was an early season embarrassment.

The problem is they want hit the outside strikes to the opposite field, even with that side wide open due to the shift. Good hitters learn to take advantage of the shift. Most of ours do not. Yuli is great at taking advantage and Brantley does at times. When Tucker is going good, he hits to the opposite field in those situations. I agree 100% that this was the worst loss of the season and an embarrassment, mainly because of all the chances we had to come back and win it. It would have helped if Dusty had not brought Smith in to allow all three of the runs to score that McCullers left. Our starting pitching in this series was the worst I've seen in years. With the exception of Smith, who should be put on waivers, the pen was good. Stanek is an excellent addition to the pen. Bielak, Raley, and Pressley all did the job. McCullers and Smith sucked. I have to agree with Bortaz........there is a problem between McCullers' ears.

I'd like to see them put him on waivers and try to trade him. When Baez and Valdez are ready, I'd like to be able to keep Garcia and Bielak. Smith is dead weight.

I think the answer to why McCullers was horrible last night could be found in an article on Astros.com. It seems that he is the player rep to the Players association and he is whining about the Astros having to play last night's game after five players went to quarantine. He thinks there are "different rules for different teams" and we should not have played last night's game. Well, if he and Joe Smith, who "opted out" last season, hadn't been in the game, we may have won it. It wasn't the fault of new guys in the lineup that we lost. It was McCullers and Smith along with Tucker leaving NINWE runs on base that cost us the game. Lance and the rest should shut the hell up, stop whining, and play the game.......DO YOUR DAMN JOBS.

Tucker was just the one that especially stood out yesterday. But yeah, most of them have been struggling lately or we wouldn't have lost 6 out of our last 7.

It didn’t matter what our guys threw, the Tigers made lemonade out of lemons. This series was an early season embarrassment. Baseball happens. The Tigers got swept convincingly by the Indians just before they went to Houston. Poor plate discipline, defensive blunders and lackluster pitching. They regrouped and focused on the mental aspect of the game and were banging on all cylinders against the Astros. Now it's Houston's turn to reflect on what went wrong and fix it. It'll be tougher until the five players are cleared to return. Even so, during the interim the replacements will have an opportunity to stand tall and prove themselves.

The answer to why McTwitchy was horrible last night is the same reason as nearly every time he pitches...he sucks as a pitcher, and is a childish dumbass. His main problem is he thinks too much and wants to "analyze" instead of just concentrating and executing. He has the tools and they keep hoping he can put it all together. Unless we trade him, we have for five years at $85 million so they better figure out how to get inside of his head and get it cleared up. I have been reluctant to give up on him because of his physical tools and his velocity. Yes, I keep remembering the McCullers who stopped the Yankees cold in game 7 of the ALCS in 2017. I keep hoping we see that guy again. With our luck, if we trade him he'll turn into a Cy Young candidate. I don't blame this on Strom. This is a mental issue with McCullers. Strom is a pitching coach, not a license psychologist. Maybe the psychologist is what McCullers needs.

Hey you never responded, what should we like about Dawson? I want to get hyped about a prospect but he doesn't look very good to me. I liked him when we drafted him because he is a great athlete. In 2018 he hit 16 bombs and stole 35 bases. In 2019 he hit 17 bombs and stole 14 bases. In the interviews I have seen him in he seemed very mature. Olpapa was high on him at one time.

Yeah but he was caught stealing a third of the time and has only hit .245 in the minors. It looks like he has decent plate discipline, but I haven't seen much success outside of college. Hopefully y'all's eye tests end up better than his minor league stats!

And yes, I'd like to see Brantley DH some and put Chas in LF during this period.
