Yes, we all know you support every candy ass that comes along and bad mouth those with the balls to speak up. Those who speak out and tell the truth get labeled as radical, bigots, racists, etc. The whiners and crybabies are all to be respected. LOL LOL Rocker was a left-hander with an outstanding fastball and slider. He was railroaded out of baseball for speaking his opinion of a certain element of society who bask in the attention given them by today's liberals. Curt Schilling is being kept out of the HOF for basically committing the crime of being conservative in his political beliefs.

"He disparaged an assortment of foreign people -- ''I'm not a very big fan of foreigners,'' he said, adding, ''How the hell did they get in this country?''-- as well as gays and others. He also called a black teammate ''a fat monkey.''"

Rocker voiced his opinion and was railroaded out of baseball. Those opinions had nothing to do with his ability as a pitcher. He didn't leave the game because he could no longer pitch effectively. He was forced out because he dared speak out against the lifestyle of a certain element of society. Most racists are not conservatives.......check the voting records of democrats in the past 150 years.

He made comments about homosexuals mostly. What is the difference in his comments than those made by some of today's players against whites and specifically against Trump when he was president. We don't penalize any of them for their comments which offend some people. This should not be a baseball issue. A player's personal opinions should not influence his employment unless the same rules apply to all and they don't. Players with liberal political leanings can speak freely without fear of their statements coming back to harm them. Just the opposite if true for conservatives. Many are OK with BLM shirts being worn by baseball personnel but can you imagine the uproar if White Lives Matter shirts showed up. Race and political views should have no bearing on a player's right to stay in the game.

Even if he never said another word against any race, gender, sexual orientation, etc. that would be enough for most fans/teams to not want him on their team. Unless they agree that it's okay to call their players racist names. If Michael Brantley called Bregman a "fat cracker" when talking with the media, would you be cool with that?

Wouldn't bother me at all. Getting upset over someone being called a "fat monkey" is also childish That is kind of like blacks getting all upset when they hear white people use the N-word when they use it all the time when referring to other black people. I didn't see any players get suspended or banned for some of the comments made about Trump and those were worse than Rocker calling a guy a "fat monkey".

He referred to ONE individual as a "fat monkey", not an entire race. I would say referring to Trump as a "white supremacist" is as offensive and racist as Rocker's comment. But, the double standard is again invoked.........if a white person makes an unpopular comment, he is "racist" or "bigoted". A black person can say something equally offensive and there is no problem. Do you think Ken Griffey Jr. would have been banned from baseball had he called Craig Biggio a "cracker"? Hell no.

How many times have I had to warn Corch on this forum about his explicit racism? Some people just haven't learned yet that the 21st century doesnt allow for just coming right out and saying the shit you could say in the 1860s.

I didn't like him as a person, but, for him to be banned from baseball for his opinion was a little steep. Suspend him a year before banning him.

I didn't like him as a person, but, for him to be banned from baseball for his opinion was a little steep. Suspend him a year before banning him. I agree he was a good pitcher at times. But he was warned way more than once is all that I am saying. I understand and I agree with you that he should have kept his mouth shut. My point is that totally banning him from baseball for the comments was a little steep. He could have been given a large fine and a year's suspension. Give him a chance to try to rectify things. Then, once his suspension was over, if he made other comments similar to those that caused his suspension, ban him for life. We allow players who are found guilty of domestic violence to serve a suspension and then return. Those who violate the league drug policies serve suspensions and return. So, I fail to see why comments should be punished more severely than violating the law. Rocker is an asshole, no question about it. Rickey Henderson was an arrogant jerk and gets praised. Pedro Martinez grabbed a 72-year old Don Zimmer by the head and threw him to the ground. He stayed in the game and is now working for MLB network. Some players who support BLM have made offensive remarks and serve no suspensions or receive fines because if action were taken against them, it would be considered as a racist move to try and silence them due to race. Neither race nor politics should be brought into professional or college sports, but, it is happening all over the country. Ratings for all pro sports are in rapid decline because of the involvement of the leagues and players in advocating for political issues. They are allowed to do this because it is their right to "freedom of speech". Some are allowed to kneel during the national anthem because it's "freedom of speech". The same for refusing to stand for the pledge. High schools are prohibited.......in some states........from having a pre-game prayer before athletic events because it is "offensive" to those who are not Christians. If we are going to respect the rights of some to express opinions, then, we must accept the rights of all to do likewise. I am often plain spoken to the point of some people thinking I am making a racist comment when that is not my intent at all. I have absolutely nothing against people of other races. I have lots of black and hispanic friends. I coached and taught lots of black and Hispanic players and students. I doubt if any of them considered me to be racist. In fact, I was told by many players and students that I was the LEAST racist member of the faculty. If I criticize a player or manager, his race has nothing to do with it. Some here think my negative comments about Altuve are at time racially inspired. They are NOT. I referred to negative things he did on the field, nothing to do with his being Hispanic. My criticism of Dusty as a manager has nothing to do with his race. It is based on his track record of mismanaging pitching staffs, and, some questionable strategic moves. I know this went long but I thought I needed to try and clarify some things. There is no way that I think John Rocker should have made those comments. I just thought his punishment was a little severe.
