Old Jake got off to a good start in his last game and then hit a wall. but, it is time he produced. Kyle Tucker has hit into some bad luck, but, he has looked awful at times. I think a couple of hits could get it turned around. He will have to make the adjustments on his own because the money we are paying so-called hitting coaches is wasted. They are incompetent, lazy, or both. As for the "ass" label, there are a few ahead of Tucker in line for it...........Straw, Maldonado, Smith, and Dusty Baker.

Odorizzi was doing fine until Straw dropped a fly out that should have been caught.

Crane can’t handle any more draft penalties at this time for getting into that overspending threshold.

It’ll be even better if Maldonado ever decides to hit line drives. When your opponent knows that Straw can't or won't bunt that is a sign they think he won't even attempt to bunt. The Angels are daring him to bunt. If he is too dumb to learn to bunt or refuses to learn, he needs to be gone. Handing Maldonado a $5 million extension for next year is ridiculous. He can't decide to hit anything because he either stands there looking for a walk or swings the bat like it weighs ten pounds. He doesn't come close to making contact most of the time. He does a good job behind the plate but is an automatic out at the plate. Having him and Straw hit back to back is a bad idea.

If Crane wants a winning team on the field, he may should have overspent. We desperately needed another outfielder and he passed on those who could have helped us. They signed Odorizzi out of desperation after Valdez was injured. Straw has shown he can do nothing except run, and, most of the time when he actually gets on base, he doesn't attempt to steal. He is the most useless player in the lineup. His defense is also below average. He has yet to prove he is any better than everyone's whipping boy, Jake Marisnick. I'd take Jake over Straw all day long.

Tucker has always been that way and Straw seems to be following his lead. Straw should also take bunting lessons from Brantley

Straw should also take bunting lessons from Brantley I hope you are right about Straw because we are probably stuck with him in CF no matter what he does. On a brighter note, Altuve has been cleared to return but won't be activated for a few days. Rodriguez sent to alternate site and the left-hander, Emmanuel, called up. If Jose has been cleared, I wish we knew why they won't activate him and put him in the lineup.

On the broadcast they said something about him stranding around 30 runners since his hot start to the season. Granted, he’s not the only one struggling, but that’s a lot of wasted offense. He’s not exactly inspiring confidence up there with those lazy lost swings.

That is why I think he needs a day off. He looks like he is guessing at the plate. He needs to go back and look at video of the way he hit last year in the regular and post season. I wonder if our half-assed hitting coaches have looked at tape of his swing. If they have, it's obvious they haven't done anything to use what they saw. He is potentially at least a .280 hitter who should hit 20-25 home runs and drive in at least 80. He has speed he can use when he gets on base. They have to find a way to get him straightened out.

Garcia replaces Diaz in lineup at 2B.......Castro catches Odorizzi.......rest of lineup is the same. I wonder how many K's Straw has today. He had three last night. I can't figure out why they don't give McCormick a shot, especially since Straw has been barely adequate in CF and a disaster at the plate.
