What will happen first, Straw hits a home run, or he steals home?

Oh, so now y'all want him to be gunning for the HR? Last week you were wanting him to play small ball.

I just want him to have a good OBP so he can be driven in by those who can actually hit home runs. The last thing Straw needs to do is try to hit home runs. He has what is known as "warning track power". If he does hit a home run, it's an accident.

I don't care about HRs, but it might be hard for him to generate more walks if there is literally no threat of power. Pitchers aren't afraid to give up a single to Straw with Maldanado behind him. He's going to see plenty of pitches in the strike zone until he at least generates some gap power.

He's going to see plenty of pitches in the strike zone until he at least generates some gap power. Teams are pitching around Tucker now that he is hitting as was expected. Tucker and Correa should switch places in the lineup so that we have Gurriel-Tucker-Correa and then Straw and Maldonado. I would like to see McCormick and Castro get more time. But, with Dusty making out lineups, I don't expect it. Both have earned more playing time. McCormick has only 34 at bats with 2 home runs and 12 runs batted in. Straw has 134 at bats with 0 home runs and 16 runs batted in with 31 K's to McCormick's 11 K's. The only thing Straw has over McCormick is raw speed.

Since he isn't a consistent home run threat, it makes sense for him to concentrate on getting on base....singles, bunts, walks. He strikes out and pops up way too much. McCormick has done better overall with about 100 fewer at bats.

I wish he would start to get more successful at stealing bases. A 62.5% success rate is awful.

I wish he would start to get more successful at stealing bases. A 62.5% success rate is awful. He can't steal them if can't get on base. When he gets on, he acts like he is afraid to run. Maybe he knows he doesn't know how to get a proper jump or how to read a pitcher. We need a coach capable of helping him.

I wish he would start to get more successful at stealing bases. A 62.5% success rate is awful. He can’t read pitchers. Exactly, and, that explains why he is afraid to try to steal bases. Why do we not have a coach capable of teaching him and other players to read a pitcher. Tucker, McCormick, and Altuve are all capable of stealing a base, although I wouldn't give any of them the green light to run on their own, especially Altuve.
