Gwynn and Puckett were two of the quickest fat guys I’ve ever seen.

I expect more steals but less RBI than Pucket. Otherwise I think Altuve ends up with pretty similar numbers to Puckett. If he stays healthy we should see more hits.

Too many hitters on this team get in these funks simultaneously.

Yuck. 0-4. Two groundouts to the pitcher. Strikeout with the bases loaded and one out.
Not good.

Main thing wrong with Altuve is that he's a dumb ass. That is his only glaring weakness.......he's stupid.

What’s stupid is Tyler White up instead of J.D. Davis, Kyle Tucker staying in the minors, Marisnick starting at all, and Springer pinch running instead of hitting.

Yes, he is a batting champion and a great hitter, but, he does a lot of dumb things which is why I say this is his weakness. He didnt have a good option as a pinch hitter........Marwin and George are both horrible right now. He has Reed who is terrible......McCann is slow as molasses. To have White and Reed up here and Davis and Tucker in Fresno makes no sense. I cannot understand why some people think White should be in the lineup. As bad as Jake has been most of the time, he hasn't been as bad lately as many of the rest, mainly George and Marwin.

I am sure if I checked back you were pining for White to be up here.....everyone is batting a 1,000 in the minors, but as soon as they don't show right away in the majors, you have that quick hook....like years back with Bregman....if and when Tuckers comes up, please be patient with him.

Altuve is an excellent ballplayer. He has more potential than both Bagwell and Biggio if he stays healthy. I mostly posted to vent.
He is certainly not stupid, and his only "weakness" is over swinging when he starts pressing rather than just trying to make solid contact.

Lost in the shuffle of declining power this season (like Altuve) is Josh Reddick. I can’t remember the last time the guy homered, and it’s generally an easy flyout when he hits the ball in the air.

He is a great player, but, he is DUMB.

Reddick’s little gaffe not only made no sense, but it charged an earned run to Morton that he didn’t deserve and was truly unnecessary.

The only thing I can imagine is that Reddick though the ball dropped in foul territory. If that was the case, he (as I said of Marisnick and Gattis earlier in the season) needs to have an eye doctor's appointment ASAP.

Maybe he did for some reason think the ball was foul. Either way, it’s a terrible play.

Reddick's BA peaked at .274 on June 27. that was about 3 weeks after returning from the DL with "spider bite".
At the time he went on the DL, his BA was way down at .227, so he did a good job of bringing it up to the .270's.
However, the power hasn't returned yet. Even though his BA jumped over 40 points, his OPS is actually down (.719 today vs .740 when he went on the DL).
Two doubles have been his only XBH's since returning from the DL. No HRs, no triples. Plate discipline has been good: Only 6 K's in June/July to go with 3 walks.
Overall, I'm not convinced he is fully healed from that "mystery infection" back in May.

The only way that play should be a single is if the batter had a pulled hamstring, and it was hit in the gap. For Reddick to just stand there like a dummy while he LET a runner score from first base, I agree it should be an error.

maybe it's worth mentioning that Reddick only GIDP'd once since returning from the DL. That came in the 9th inning of yesterday's game.
Overall he's provided a light, league-average bat since returning from the DL (BA .333, OBP .357, OPS .721).
That's not bad for a .500 team but the world champs need better.

Reddick was never supposed to be more than a complementary player, but we all expect more than brain farts in the outfield.

Reddick is a solid to above-average all-around player. He's not an all-star but he gets things done pretty well in all aspects. He had bad day just like others did. He'll be fine. Nobody should have expected his offense to be what it was last year, but he'll still be an above-average producer when healthy.

Even with the poor week, Altuve is on pace for:
13 HR 77 RBI 104 Runs 215 Hits 41 Doubles 23 SBs .338/.403/.478 7.9 WAR
Obviously we would like to see some more HRs in there, but that's an all-star to elite level of performance all-around.

A few less mental lapses on the bases would also help.
