He must be off suspension. He warmed up in the pen twice today. They can get rid of him any time they want to. He's appealing the suspension, I think. Yes, I think so.

Correa had a horrible day...the error and hitless again. Yet you want us to give him a blank check....Hmmmm. Crane needs to hand him a signed blank check and tell him to fill in the numbers......after he cuts Bregman's salary to pay for it.

Since Bregman has been out, Carlos did NOT help carry the load.
Since Bregman been out, June 16th, Carlos has hit .229 with 4 HRs....and the best of that happened in June. Take away two weeks of June, Carlos, in July, hit .179 with 1 HR.
Heck even Maldonado outhit Carlos in July, he had .188 AVG w/ 3HRs.
Jose Altuve since June 16th has hit .264 with 12 HRs.

Don't double down on stupidity I thought you could recognize sarcasm. No way would I give anyone a blank check. I do think we may have to go over $30 million a year to sign him. He will not accept less money than Altuve is being paid. The offer they made him prior to the season was laughable and could make his price go higher. There is no other FA on the market who is close to being as good defensively, and, he is a clutch hitter who delivers in the post season.

The guy who has really carried us lately has been Kyle Tucker. Bregman wasn't doing shit before he was injured so his bat was not hard to replace. It really hurt when Diaz was also out of the lineup. We are seeing right now what he could have done while he was out.

When Bregman went on the IL, he was in a stretch of doing nothing but striking out and popping up. He did nothing last season in the regular or post season. If numbers are any indication, nobody benefitted more from the sign-stealing than Bregman. The worst of Carlos' problems has been since they decided he was "sick" and put him in that damn health and safety protocol bullshit. He has done almost nothing since his return, but, wasn't bad prior to that. Defensively, Bregman is much easier to replace than Correa. If one of them had to go on the IL, I would prefer it be Bregman because we have nobody who can come close to replacing Carlos' defense.

Carlos 2020 hit .264/.326/.383 2021 (contract year) .272/.368/.476
Bregman 2020 hit .242/.350/.451 2021 .275/.359/.428
So Bregman was better in the 2020 season, and so far Carlos is better in the 2021 season.

When Bregman does make it back, who plays in more games for the rest of the season, Bregman or Correa?
You would think Correa, because I am sure Dusty is going to rest Bregman more, coming off an injury. But, Correa's missed games history could mean he could miss more. Although, this is a contract year for Correa, and I am sure he is going to do his best to stay on the field.
Any guesses?

Pure hitter: Brantley by a nose over the rest. Impact hitter: Gotta go with Altuve right now. He’s been turning turd sandwich pitches into lemonade homers. Power: Yordan but man you’ve got to deal with more slumps than Correa. Clutch: Altuve now, Correa for postseason.

That's all he was doing for us in the three spot. I just hope Dusty has the good sense not to put Bregman back in that spot. Our offense has actually been better without him hitting there. I'd bat him 6th or 7th. '

I am afraid Bregman will continue being the non-productive hitter he had been before his injury. He had steadily declined since the season started. I agree that Bregman will get more rest. Now, that we have Diaz back, it makes sense to play him a lot if he continues hitting as he is now. Correa will probably play a lot and start hitting again. I don't worry about him producing in the post-season. He usually does, and, does it better than Bregman.

Bregman isn't close to being the best all-around hitter on this team. Michael Brantley is the best hitter on the team. Altuve is the best clutch hitter at the moment. He has started getting more hits the last few games and is still hitting home runs. Correa is the best athlete on the team by far, and, is probably the best all-around player when combining offense and defense. He is also a proven clutch hitter in the post-season. Bregman may be the 4th best hitter behind Brantley, Altuve, and Tucker. Bregman has been basically below average since 2019.

I also don't mind Brantley there as long as it isn't a lefty with a sharp breaking slider.

Unfortunately, he hasn't been close to that level since that time. If he can get close to what he was then, we are in great shape. Our lineup could be eight deep....if McCormick produces. Anything we get from the catchers is icing on the cake.

To make room on the active roster for Maton and Meyers, the Astros optioned RHP Bryan Abreu to the Taxi Squad and RHP Brandon Bielak to Triple A Sugar Land...additionally, the club designated RHP Nivaldo Rodriguez for assignment. Where's Nivaldo? Sorry, couldn't help myself! Detroit

I reckon Bregman will find himself near the bottom of the order when(if) he first returns, then back in the 3 spot when he gets his rhythm.

I’m with JIT. I think he needs to show some of his old self before being gifted the 3rd spot of the lineup. Personally, I'd have him batting ninth for the first few games. That gives him as much information as possible about what the starting pitcher is throwing, when Alex comes to the plate for the first time in the game. It also means that if he's successful, the batting order wraps around and we'll have a decent hitter at the plate who is more likely to capitalize on his success. Alex has been idle for a good long while. But I feel confident he'll get back on track rather quickly. I could be wrong now ... BUT I DON'T THINK SO!
