64-40
It would be really nice to see Greinke have a dominant long game today. I'm sure he'll be pumped trying to get his 10th HR or 10th SB.
With the years that Ohtani and Vlad Jr. are having, we won't see an MVP from the Astros. And factoring in defense, Correa is currently our best all-around player in 2021. But, what Altuve is doing driving in runs this year has to be recognized.
In 2021 with RISP: .349/.460/.683 1.142 OPS
In 2021 with bases loaded: .455/.467/1.364 1.830 OPS
You read that right. His SLG with the bases loaded is higher than his total OPS with RISP....and his RISP OPS is amazing already. Altuve has done a lot of impressive things, but one of his biggest flaws in previous years was his struggles when the bases were loaded. This year he has completely turned that around, and it's the reason why he is seeing a nice boost in his RBI total despite hitting leadoff.

His defense has been spectacular and his bat will be there when needed. Altuve is putting up the best power numbers of his career. Up until this season, he was one of our worst hitters with the bases loaded due to the tendency to lack patience and either popup or hit into DP's. His numbers for hitting into DP's have drastically declined and that is a good thing. I still wish he wouldn't go to the plate when leading off a game and whack away at the first pitch no matter where it is. He has made too many one pitch outs because of it. His baserunning is much better due to the decrease in number of brain farts. Nobody is happier than I am that he has corrected his struggles with the bases loaded. I used to dread seeing him come up in those situations. I knew you couldn't give Carlos credit for being our best all-around player this season without doing everything possible to toot Jose's horn at the same time. I have to agree with you here. His run production has been off the charts and in clutch situations. I haven't checked, but, I doubt if anyone else has THREE grand slams this season.

And weren't you the one that constantly berated him until this season?

Poor Altuve has to homer if he wants to drive in Maldonado.

Aren't you the one who seldom posts any stats that aren't designed to further your claim that Altuve is the best player who ever lived. We DO have other good players you know. I try to give credit when it's due...I also give criticism when it's earned instead of ignoring it or making excuses for it........such as when a guy makes a dumb move on the bases and gets it called "being aggressive" . Yes, I have often thought Correa was too soft and seemed to get his injuries away from the game itself. He has since matured which was shown during last years playoffs when he helped lead us offensively and provided great leadership and defense. Altuve IS the inspirational leader of this team and is providing big, clutch hits. Carlos Correa is the best athlete and all-around player. Michael Brantley is the best pure hitter on this team. Kyle Tucker is an upcoming star who could eventually be the MVP of this team. He has been our MVP at times this season.

Interesting that Greinke is in the 8th spot today. Could be a good move.

Poor Altuve has to homer if he wants to drive in Maldonado. Odds are that Jose won't have to drive in Maldonado. He seldom gets on base to clog up things. It is good to see Chas in CF instead of Tucker and Brantley being out of position.

Not a great inning for ZG. Glad he got out of that without giving up any more runs.

Isn't that Greinke's fault the runs scored? The screw ups Jose made in the ALCS last year were McCullers' fault.

Wood is exceptionally lucky today. All three outs that inning were hit 97+ mph.

Why is Dusty the Dumbass leaving Greinke out there to throw BP? He now has a pen........use it.

Why is Greinke in this game giving up homers? That is what I said.....why is he still out there. Hasn't anybody told Dusty he doesn't have to go to Pruitt or Smith? He has a pen so get Greinke out of there while we still have a chance to win.
