Win in they're in! Hopefully a tough win yesterday will start a hot streak that carries into the postseason.
What a nice run of baseball we've gotten to see over the last 7 years. 4 1st place finishes (with one more win this year), 2 2nd place finishes, and 6 trips to the postseason including, so far, 4 trips to the ALCS or beyond.
Fun fact: If we have another couple years of 91-71 or better, we'll officially have a historical winning record for the first time ever. We're currently 40 games under .500 as a franchise. And a lot of that is thanks to the last several years of amazing seasons.

For those of us not panicking after every couple losses, it was a fun ride. They're not a perfect team by any means, but I think we've gotten so spoiled that we expect a 100-Win season every year. They're a very good, but streaky, offensive team with some fun starting pitchers to watch. The bullpen is still patchwork, unfortunately, but hopefully we'll see more "Do what it takes to win today" pitching decisions in the playoffs. |

If anyone expects me to join the crowd who thinks it's OK just blow off games and give them away, they have a long wait coming. We should have clinched the division at least a week ago. We lost several games due to Dusty putting weak lineups out there on days we had a chance to sweep a series. Giving less than your best effort is never acceptable. That's for those who approve of awarding participation trophies for just showing up. |

Brantley is back tonight as DH. For some reason, Dusty insists on playing Hot Dog Siri and keeping Meyers on the bench. I realize Meyers has been in a slump, but, he needs ABs to work his way out of it. I trust Meyers and McCormick for the post season a lot more than I trust Siri.
