Man, the sniffles and bloodshot cry-eyes was hard to watch. Got to respect someone who cares that much. More emotional than the players who’ve left. Boils down to ownership, pride, and dedication. And I'll just leave it at that.

If Dusty impacted the outcomes significantly, then this team was never good to begin with. You bring up a good point from an execution perspective on a short term basis. What percent of games would be decided differently if the manager had made a different decison..... I know woulda, coulda, shoulda's are statistically impossible to quantify. But when you add them up on a 162 game basis, I bet it can be pretty significant, but yes again unquantifiable. Execution wise, I think Baker is sound fundementally in his play calling. I'd give Dusty a B- But then add the element of oversight of work ethic, recogntion of player flaws, properly playing hutches without the grips and constraints of sabermetirics, then I think it becomes evident which managers his staff properly direct an organization toward proper optimization of the talent that they have available. In this aspect Dusty gets in my opinion a D+ in his entire career. Don't forget young arms have been ruined in Dusty's career by player (over) usage. Don't get me wrong, Dusty is not the worst manager ever. I'd put him in the middle quintile of those I have seen in my life. Heaven knows this franchise has endured worse than him through likes Bo Porter, Jimy Williams, and Cecil Cooper. The three managers you mentioned were clearly worse than Dusty. Also, the Dusty who managed pitchers arms falling off hasn’t been the guy who’s managed the Astros the past couple seasons.

Critiques about Dusty aside (and they're valid; I have them myself) I think there's a lot of free agents who'd sign here to help get him a ring if he and Crane can work out an extension, just cause he's so likeable

I would like to see Graveman and Verlander come back. Adios to Greinke and Correa. Sign a solid ss or 3b.

Some fans whined about Dusty not letting Odorizzi pitch deeper into games despite the stats showing he gets his ass blasted the third time through the order.

I hope Jake can be serviceable next season with a true spring training.

So have the Astros hired Strom’s replacement yet? Is Ray Searage coaching anywhere? He did a decent job in Pittsburgh IIRC.

Searage was no longer a guru after hitters changed their swing trajectories on his beloved sinker. Strom took the mantle after whispering to pitchers their 4-seamer should land up in the zone
