Interesting article, mainly for what is said and discussed about Jeff Luhnow. Which confirms my thinking the day this f'n thing broke. Luhnow had nothing to do with this thing, but ended being the only one who truly suffered. Shit like this makes me hate this f***ing game. Here is a direct quote from the article from Brent Strom, who I feel would be a pretty good source of the level culpability in this.
Seems the innocent one was executed and all criminals skated. That's a f***ing cying shame. If Blowfly Jim Crane would have done a decent investigation, he'd had come to the same conclusion. Burn in hell Crane. Now from the article:.
============================================================================================================================= Luhnow perfected analytics, showing the baseball world that if you should intentionally dive to the bottom of the standings, you can have a meteoric rise to the top, and here the Astros are playing in their third World Series in five years. “His name is not brought up a lot here,’’ Astros pitching coach Brent Strom said, “but this whole thing is Jeff Luhnow. I have very strong feelings for this man. He’s brilliant. When I look at what’s been going on the last eight years that I’ve been here, it’s due to him. He basically got this whole framework put in place. “If a team wants to win, and is really serious about winning, they should hire this man." Teams and fans have forgiven others involved in the Astros’ 2017 cheating scandal. Former manager A.J. Hinch was suspended a year, but is now managing he Detroit Tigers. Former bench coach Alex Cora was also suspended, but returned to the Boston Red Sox as their manager. Outfielder George Springer, one of the stars of that 2017 team, received a $150 million free-agent contract with the Toronto Blue Jays. ' He didn't know what was going on'
The Astros still are booed wherever they go on the road, with fans incensed that they used illegal video to steal signs, but all that remains are four position players, a pitcher, and Strom. All are gainfully employed without being punished. Strom, sitting at the end of the Astros bench, where signs were relayed with the pounding of trash cans, remains convinced that Luhnow is innocent, and never should have been suspended.
“He didn’t know (expletive) what was going on down here,’’ Strom told USA TODAY Sports. “He didn’t know. He didn’t get involved in people’s business. Now, should he have known? I don’t know.“But I knew more about it than he did. I sat right (expletive) there when I heard it. If anybody should have been (expletive) going out, it should have been me, and not him. “I was on the pitching side of things, and had nothing to do with that side of of the ball, but I was still part of the team.’’ www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/architects-of-two-world-series-teams-atlanta-and-houston-at-home-disgraced-and-out-of-the-game/ar-AAQ5Ibv

Something is off about the Luhnow case. He claimed he wasn’t aware of the chicanery, but the COB’s office refuted that, and you’d assume there’s evidence to back it up.

Seems plenty has been shared, but nothing specifically from the COB's office? Doesn't that seem odd? And if I rember right that "refuataton" was more along and aligned that Luhnow should have known of said chicanery. But I ask you honestly.... How many times did you see Luhnow down in the dugout during a game? And as far as I know, there were no incriminating emails either. Doesn't that smell already? And as our No. 1 poster here, I am kind of shocked you even have any level of trust in the COB's office, considering their history with the team. And why would Strom go out on a limb anyway? He had nothing to gain, Lunow's gone. Honestly, MLB needed a scapegoat, and it sadly ended up being the one who was most likely innocent. And finally, to everyone who is enjoying the 3rd WS in 5 years....... Who do you think built this team? When things start going into decline, I'll make it to point remind.

I was often too impatient with Luhnow for not making trades or signing players I thought we needed, but, he was the guy who built the team into what it is now. Sure, he made some bum deals like Hader for Gomez and Fiers, but, he also stole Yordan Alvarez from the Dodgers for Josh Fields. He signed Michael Brantley, traded for Verlander, Cole, and Pressly, plus signed Yuli Gurriel and other international players we have. I will wait until Spring Training before I give Click a grade. I have noticed that Crane has never said he knew anything that was going on with the sign stealing crap. I would have let Hinch and Luhnow served their suspensions and then put them back to work.

I wonder why Luhnow withdrew his lawsuit against the Astros Good question. Answer might reside in some off-shore brokerage account. (just speculative, but enough money might make Luhnow forget about being in baseball again)

Manfred is protecting the business, plain and simple. Truth and transparency are not his goal, and never will be, as with any businessman. Luhnow almost certainly didn't know what was going on. He was fired for PR reasons, and it may have been a behind-the-scenes demand from Manfred to Crane; we'll leave you and the players alone, but you have to axe Hinch and Luhnow as the scapegoats.

I wonder why Luhnow withdrew his lawsuit against the Astros From my understanding he may not have been serious about taking the suit all the way in the first place. www.houstonchronicle.com/texas-sports-nation/astros/article/Jeff-Luhnow-Astros-lawsuit-Jim-Crane-sign-stealing-15928022.php"Luhnow’s lawyers said it would be a 'complete sham' to allow Manfred or his designee in any arbitration hearing and called for an independent arbiter to preside. It is unknown whether arbitration occurred to cause the suit’s dismissal, but lawyers unaffiliated with the case surmised that was always a likely outcome. 'Arbitration is confidential. It is outside the public purview and accompanied by orders that make the proceedings secret,' Michael Lyons, of the Dallas firm of Lyons & Simmons, said in November. 'Filing suit is a way for Jeff Luhnow to clear the air from a PR standpoint and get his story out in a way he might not otherwise have been able to do.'"

I wonder why Luhnow withdrew his lawsuit against the Astros NDA maybe? No doubt there was a NDA. I suspect Luhnow got his money from the Astros.
