Meh. So far I've heard about too much Chinese and Russian ridiculousness for it to be worth it. The Olympics are becoming a joke with how they're handling these two countries.

Meh. So far I've heard about too much Chinese and Russian ridiculousness for it to be worth it. The Olympics are becoming a joke with how they're handling these two countries. The Russians have a long and storied history of doping, using steroids and other banned substances. Russia received a two-year ban from the World Anti-Doping Agency in 2019 for its state-sponsored doping program. Between Dec. 17, 2020, and Dec. 17, 2022, no athlete can represent Russia at the Olympics, Paralympics or World Championships. So how are the Russian athletes even present at the 2022 Winter Games? They're there under the flag of the "Russian Olympic Committee". WTF? 15-year-old Russian ... sorry ... ROC—figure skater Kamila Valieva had tested positive for a banned substance called trimetazidine, which is illegal for athletes to use both in- and out-of-competition. around Christmas. The results weren't known until recently. But there seems to be some doubt whether the Gold Medal the Russian ... oops I mean ... ROC skaters won in team competition (with Valieva participating in that competition) should be awarded. WTF? WTF? Oh, and they're currently debating whether Valieva should be allowed to continue participating in these games in events where she's scheduled to compete. WTF? WTF? WTF? Recommendation to the International Olympic Committee: Grow a pair.
That horseshit aside, it was pretty cool watching the two oldest athletes at these games, US snowboarders Lindsey Jacobellis and Nick Baumgartner, bring home the gold in the mixed team snowboard cross. Three-time Olympic gold medalist in half-pipe snowboarding, Shaun White, didn't stand on the podium this time in his fifth Olympics. He finished fourth. But he did get a standing ovation.
