...drive a pickup? If so, which one do you have and would you recommend it?
I might be moving on from my Caddy, and am considering getting back into a truck. I really like the looks of the GMC Sierra and Dodge RAM, but have been out of the truck game for so long that I no longer know who produces a quality product.

Toyota Tacoma - My grandfather owned his own car dealership my whole life until he passed. He specialized in Toyota and Nissans and he kind of got me to be a Toyota only guy. No complaints on any Toyota’s I’ve owned. My current Tacoma has 110,000 miles on it and I have never spent a dime on it outside of the normal stuff (oil changes, new tires, etc..)

I drive a 2015 Chevy Colorado crew cab V6. Nothing fancy. I paid it off a few years ago. It's been a fantastic truck. I put a little lift kit on it and some better wheels/tires and a bed liner. Other than replacing the water pump and the windshield (a crack explodes during the hard freeze last year), I haven't had to do anything for it.

I will say that I've heard good things about the new Rams, and the touchscreen inside is pretty fancy tech.
I'm holding out to see how the new electric trucks work out. The electric F150 sounds interesting.

I used to have a Tundra before they went to the big body type. It was a decent truck. The new ones look awesome, but get about 12mpg. Tacoma looks ok, but is too small in the cabin. I have to haul a lot of grandkids around.

The electric F150 sounds interesting. I might still go with a car, or might even keep my CTS VSport. But they no longer make the Cadillac that I like, and I am sick of their shitty customer service, so I've begun looking into some Audi's, a Tesla (if I didn't like 300 miles from civilization, an S-model would be my 1st choice), and a couple of others. But really like some of the trucks that I've seen lately.

He went with an all-wheel drive Lexus RX300 hybrid. It's pretty damn nice. I'm hoping my truck will hold out decently a few more years while the electric trucks develop and reviews by the common folk start coming in.

Tundras are getting killed with catalytic converter thefts in greater Houston. Either get a cage welded over them or steer clear.

I've owned a bunch of trucks. Currently have 3: 2000 F250 with a 7.3, 2004 F250 with a 6.0 and a 2017 F350 with a 6.7. I've also owned one Ram 5.9 (probably the best small truck diesel ever made) and various F-150s and 1/2-ton Chevys. I've spent a lot of time hauling trailers; hence, the diesels. I've owned all the major brands but a Toyota (mostly because their towing capacity lagged behind and their V8 only got 17 mpg on a good day). I believe now they have a twin-turbo V6. I might buy one at some point but twin turbo designs don't scream reliability in my experience. So I guess it depends on what you're going to do with it. If it's just going to be a kid hauler, get a Yukon XL. Loved mine right up until it was murdered by a deer. The 7.3 is loud, obnoxious and not nearly as comfortable as newer trucks. And I'll never sell it.

Yeah, I Googled it. Meh. Ugly. I have owned three Tundras. The 01 I had I put 297000 miles on it til it got killed by a deer. I used it to haul my boat all over the country. Then I bought a 2014 Tundra with the 5.7 and started to use it for my everyday vehicle. I got 198000 miles on it and when I quit hauling my boat everywhere my wife convinced me to get a Highlander. Kept it for 2 years and then bought a 2021 Tundra. I get 15 mpg on average and the back seat is big enough to play volleyball in. Never had an issue with any of my trucks. Now having said that I am also waiting impatiently for the electric trucks to work out their respective kinks and if the Ford Lightning is still head and shoulders above the rest I will buy one of them. When everything is said and done the electric trucks and vehicles in general will obliterate the combustion engines. Diesels will be pushed off the road first as they continue to tinker with the regulations that are destroying all the reasons people buy diesels. What I find incredibly humorous is how GM came out first and said they would shift over to all electric by 2035. When I am driving down the road at night and a vehicle is coming in the opposite direction with only one headlight it is a safe bet to assume it is a GM product. The could not produce a vehicle with a wiring harness that functions properly long term to save their life. Now they are going to build cars with hundreds of wiring harnesses. It would be laughable if it were not so absurd.

If you like the new body style then you can get better mileage with the hybrid IForce Max. They have the Land Rover drive train and a battery system for city driving. The Limited is as low as you can go with the feature level and get the good mileage.

Diesels will be pushed off the road first as they continue to tinker with the regulations that are destroying all the reasons people buy diesels. I'm skeptical that electrics will obliterate ICE (internal combustion engines). It may happen through government regulation at some point but not on the merits of each. Plus the majority of electricity is produced by burning fossil fuels, the mining equipment that digs minerals necessary for battery production (especially lithium) are diesel-driven, so what are you saving? Speaking of lithium, there is a finite amount on the planet; they'll run out of it long before they do fossil fuels. Then what? Lead-acid won't work to the same standards. Also if they were really serious about pollution control (they aren't) they'd realize that just a few ocean-going cargo vessels spew several times more pollution into the atmosphere than all the world's cars put together. They may push diesel pickups out but trains and industrial equipment will still use diesel. So, the only people who are really pollution-regulated are the average citizens and companies. So, ask yourself why? And while you're doing that, follow the money.

So, ask yourself why? And while you're doing that, follow the money. I think I may of given you the wrong impression of where I stand on this issue. Clearly this is a government driven situation, and it most certainly will be decided by government regulation and pressure. If folks were aware of what is going on there would be hell to pay. Example, Joe Biden recently cancelled the sale of multiple desirable off shore leases. This was a promise that he made to the special interests to gain their support prior to being anointed as the democratic nominee in early 2020. A federal judge said no way Jose and the sale was back on. It was on though for only a short time and then cancelled again due to a lack of bidders. The problem was not whether oil was in the area of these leases. The problem was not necessarily the price, though the royalties were doubled from the standard cost of the harvest. The problem was the pressure that has been brought to bear on the industry financially. Those that had shown interest in the leases were promptly told that the EPA was working on new regulations specifically with these leases in mind. The objective of course was to highlight an increasing risk on a diminished reward, (higher royalties). Also every environmental group was marshaled to make sure that every potential bidder knew that a motherland of lawsuits were lined up to delay any successful bidder. This all of course only had to happen because Biden lost his bid for an Executive Order that stopped these leases from being offered by federal court order. Now in this environment of flipping back and forth between operational realities of such ridiculous extremes of the lefties, major business leaders have no real choice but to bend the knee. So the battery technology will improve and an ever increasing pace. More companies will throw more assets on solving the problem of range and it will get solved. My reasoning for saying that in the end the batteries will win is that cars powered by electricity operate on a much higher efficiency plane than do the combustion engines. look it up.
