Altuve has nearly a 150 wRC+. If you moved him to 1B right now he'd be the 5th-best hitting first baseman in MLB. Any concern about his diminished range, weak arm, yips etc. goes away. Move Bregman to 2B and sign Arenado this offseason (if Arenado opts out. Probably won't but we're dreaming here). Ridiculous offensive and defensive infield. More realistic; trade for Garrett Cooper to bridge the gap at 1B.

I guess this exercise does highlight the dilemma that the Astros seem to be having, Bregman may need to be moved due to his lack of power. The juiced ball helped him a lot and short of that ball returning he just does not provide the power to stay at third. Altuve's bat should stay viable but his defense seems to have started turning south. Interesting

LOL - Altuve at 1BAltuve at 1B is just silly Maybe coincidental, But you post substantially more following an Angels' win or Astros' loss. You're basically not existent when Angels lose, especially when they're on a losing streak. BTW - WB from your vacation.

Alvarez's defense does not look as bad as has been advertised in left. Having said that I wonder what issue he has manning first. FWIW, Alvarez played 342 innings at 1B in the minors, handled 298 defensive chances and committed 2 errors. Up to this point, with Yuli entrenched at first base, there has been no reason to try and make a first baseman out of Yordan. I suspect that will change next season. I remember when the Giants brought up Willie McCovey. They already had Orlando Cepeda at first base. So they stuck McCovey out in LF. He was horrible. Alvarez is a gold glover in LF compared to what McCovey looked like. The Giants traded Cepeda and moved McCovey to 1B where he became their regular first baseman. If Willie McCovey could play 1B, there is no doubt in my mind that Alvarez can too.

Astros #11 prospect per MLB.com. He’s at High A Asheville.

I guess I have lost track of some things, who is Cristian Gonzales? Astros #11 prospect per MLB.com. He’s at High A Asheville. After I typed that I looked him up. Big boy but not much power, yet. Looks like he can project but he definitely has to figure out the strike zone. Few walks and a lot of strike outs.
