It's amazing to me that the team 2 spots back from the Astros in the standings is 10.5 games back.

Feel good story of the year is Baltimore. Who would’ve thought they would be battling for a playoff spot this year?

I realize that no one here thinks we will only go 1 game over 500 from here on out but if we do Seattle would have to play 720 ball over the last 50 games to tie us. Possible but not likely. Having said that this season does not really feel like a "great year" to me. I guess it is due to the poor offensive performance.

There are a few bright spots on offense (Yordan, Jose, Bregman & Tucker) but you are right overall the offense is down. We are so high above 500 because of the starting pitching and bullpen.

Just think if the offense was as good as the SP how many more games would they have won? Also if Dusty wasn't always being Dusty or as someone I know that works for MLB Video says the name around is General Dusty.

Thoughts on Avila being fired? I like Al Avila but I'm not surprised. The Tigers have been in "rebuild" mode since the trade deadline of 2015, although at the beginning it was labeled a "retooling". The big FA purchases that winter were Justin Upton and Jordan Zimmermann. I respected Zimmermann on a personal level but his time in Detroit was a long and expensive disaster. Avila had several successes finding talent in the discard pile. JD Martinez, anyone? And some of the fill-in deals like Robbie Grossman have been positive. But the big deals and trades haven't really panned out. Some of that has been due to untimely injuries, but still, not good. Think Hinch’s job is safe? I think his contract runs through the 2025 season so I reckon he's safe for a few years.

I think Hinch is overrated b/c Astros won a WS in 2017.... He was good with the players, but bad at making key decisions in the game. Best move - bringing Morton in and letting him finish the game. Worst move - going to Wil Harris both in 2015 and 2019 2019 team was insanely loaded.

I think Hinch has shouldered more of the blame than he deserves. A 107-win team trying to win its first home game for the fourth time was the part I thought was insane. That being said, no way I would trade our manager for Detroit's if the option presented itself

That being said, no way I would trade our manager for Detroit's if the option presented itself They couldn’t hit Scherzer or Strasburg outside of Bregman nor would they manufacture runs. Had Yordan’s ball gone over Soto’s head or had the umpire decided to call the 2-1 pitch from Greinke to Soto, I think we win the championship. Hinch’s blame rightfully came from pushing that Will Harris button the day after failing in Game 6 while the baddest pitcher on the planet was warming up in the bullpen. He himself said he’ll always question that move.

I agree with his sweeping philosophy baseball teammates should love each other, and the team can't be successful if they're not channeling the positive vibes

Dusty also arguably won himself his second pennant by giving Greinke the early hook in Game 4, a difficult move that was questioned at the time, but turned out to be the momentum shift in the series

Regardless of Hinch’s undying affection for Will Harris, his management of the ‘15 squad was admirable.

Regardless of Hinch’s undying affection for Will Harris, his management of the ‘15 squad was admirable. I will give you that.. his 2015 was his best coaching overall... 2017 will always be the one he's remembered for because of the WS win.... But I'm still very pissed off at him for 2019 WS game 6 and 7 debacles...
