I’m pulling for all the guys we sent to Pittsburgh for Cole to do well. Same with the guys we sent to Detroit for Verlander. Trades should be a win-win situation. If the players we send to other teams in trades do well, I think it encourages other GMs to deal with us.

One thing I like about Luhnow and his management team is that it seems like they care about the kind of people they have on the team. I’m thinking the closest thing to a DB we have is probably Giles.

The Mariners trade for Colome and Span yesterday was a beauty...What would have been the equivalent in Astros prospects to what the Mariners gave up in Romero and Moore?

I like Joe Musgrove a lot and I hope he keeps pitching well. When we were in the NL Central the Pirates were the team I disliked the least. Moran and Feliz both have provided decent numbers for the Pirates as well this season.

As long as Cole performs I don't care if they succeed or not now.

I believe the same will prove to be true about the Verlander trade within a couple years. Franklin Perez, Daz Cameron and Jake Rogers are all solid prospects.

Just checked Tigers.com and Perez, Cameron and Rogers are rated the Tigers’ #1, #5 and #7 prospects by mlb.com.

You are right about those three.........What we get from Verlander from here on out is icing on the cake and I think some more good icing is coming.

After 5 starts, Musgrove now leads PIT starters with a 3.68 ERA. He's looking like he may be their #2 starter next year. He's gone right around 6 innings per start.
Feliz has flopped so far, but Moran continues to run about an .800 OPS, fourth-best on their team among hitters with over 100 ABs.

Good for him to keep tabs on his old teammates. I actually was one of very few people here that didn't want to trade McHugh before the season. I'm glad we kept him.

Pretty cool of Joe. Not often you see a former teammate give a shout-out like that

The managers of the AL and NL All Star teams select the pitchers, right?

Very classy of Musgrove to raise awareness like that.

I always liked Musgrove and he showed class by pushing for McHugh to be an all-star

The managers of the AL and NL All Star teams select the pitchers, right? Pretty sure I heard AJ say today that he doesn’t get to pick any players anymore...he just manages the team he’s given.

Just found this posted at mlb.com: “Who picks the reserves and pitchers? In short, it's a group effort. The player ballot, the Commissioner's Office and the fans all have a say in how the rosters rounded out. The new wrinkle this year is that the NL and AL skippers (in this case, Dave Roberts and AJ Hinch) no longer have a say in the selections, so there won't be accusations of homerism.” That sux.

I don't think it will matter. The only players we have that are deserving look like they're going to make it outside of maybe McHugh.
Altuve is a lock. Bregman is the best outside of Jose Ramirez and is 2nd in voting. Verlander, Cole, Morton should all make it barring a collapse. McHugh is deserving and has a chance, but with 5 other Astros his spot may go to a team that needs a representative.

I read somewhere that AJ has informed the league that Verlander will start the Astros’ game on July 15 and not be available to pitch in the AS game. That should increase McHugh’s chances of getting selected.

The fans have enough control by voting in starting position players. Let MLB peers and coaches vote in the rest.
