If there were Brent Strom posters, I’d sell them to you fools for $1,000 apiece.

Astros clinch a playoff spot. Magic Number for Division is 4 and the number for American number 1 Seed League over Yankees is 10

The only real question I think they have left to answer is can they 13-4 over the last 17 games and finish with a record of 108-54. No that would be a real accomplishment.

As things stand now it is likely that the Astros will be the #1 seed in the AL playoffs and face the winner between the #4 and #5 seeds. Right now the Blue Jays and Mariners are in the #4 and #5 positions and the Indians and Rays are in the #3 and #6 positions.
Of the three likely wildcard teams… Jays, Mariners and Rays.., I would prefer the Astros face the Rays, rather than the Mariners or Blue Jays. My least preferred option is the Blue Jays.
The Astros play the Rays 6 times before the end of the regular season. Those 6 games could go a long way toward determining the Rays position in the playoff seeding. If the Rays end up at #6 and the Indians take the #3 seed, the Yankees are going to face an easier road to the ALDS even though they are the #2 seed.

They have a stacked line up. I'm okay with the Mariners.

The Blue Jays this year don't scare me as much as last year. I personally find the Mariners very annoying and I feel like they play us hard.

I think we get away with throwing less strikes than other teams. So, one matchup doesn’t scare me more than another. Usually, when we lose it’s because of our hitting.

I would like a Deadwood strongman mudfight for the first round and then whip the Yankees in 4 and then finish the Dodgers off in LA and Altuve hit the go ahead grand slam and everyone tear off his jersey while the bullpen beats on trash cans.

I know what you are saying, the number one seed might not be the best preference. I think home field advantage is always important. Your're right, you would want that advantage. I can't remember the year off hand but when the Cardinals won their last WS, they had the worst record of the playoff teams and ran the table. The team the at gets hot at the right time is key. I would have put my house up in 98 that the Stros were winning the WS.

If strength of remaining schedule means anything, the Mariners should take the #4 seed in the AL postseason. All of their remaining games are against teams with a losing record. The Rays have a tough stretch ahead of them. After tomorrow’s game against Texas they play 13 consecutive games against teams that will make the AL playoffs before finishing up with 3 against Boston. The Jays have 13 games remaining against teams with a winning record. The 4-game series at Tampa Bay between the Rays and Jays will be huge for both teams as they battle for the #5 seed. Of course both teams may would rather finish #6 and face the Indians in the first round rather than the Mariners.

I just hope we don't face any unknown pitchers with 7 ERAs when we get to the playoffs. For some reason, we always make them look like CY.

Not sure he will get a ton of starts in the playoffs. Maybe one here and there but all playoff series will start with JV, Framber, and LMJ. When you need to start a 4th would you go Urquidy?
