This series is far from over. If Lance doesn't have his control, Game 3 could go downhill quickly. Kirby is an underrated pitcher who we've barely seen. And the time we did, he struck out 7 in 4 innings.
Let's hope Altuve gets going and Pena and Bregman stay hot, because I doubt that Yordan will see much to hit at this point.
I also still say that I'd like to see Hensley get a start at DH if they're going to keep putting Yordan in LF.

Then if we win, Lance is lined up to have the most starts vs. NYY who he's always done well against

I would like to see Javier get a start. The Yankees could not solve him this year. Let both LMJ and Javier get start(s).

He's the leader of the staff and the HoFer. Unless he is sore or tired, I expect JV to be the Game 1 starter for the ALCS unless we need to use him in a Game 5 of this series.

I'm good with Lance starting Game 3. He has had very good success in the postseason, and has been the pitching equivalent of Springer. He steps up in big games. He's a career 2.83 ERA in 57+ IP in the postseason.
But, I think they need to have Garcia or Brown ready to come in for multiple innings as early as the 5th or 6th inning due to Lance's typically high pitch counts. Save Javier for a potential Game 4.

Be that as it may, Ash's point about JV clocking an ERA north of 4.50 in his last ten postseason starts can't be dismissed to the conventional way managers do things. We're at a point where if JV pitches in October like he does in the regular season it would be against the trend

We're at a point where if JV pitches in October like he does in the regular season it would be against the trendI'm not saying the line of thinking is wrong. I just don't think anybody would do it. And I don't think things with JV are as dire as all that anyways. Since joining our team, he was 7-6 with a 3.43 ERA in the postseason before this Game 1 (with only four starts giving up 4 or more earned runs). But yes, he has never been a great postseason pitcher (outside of the 2017 ALCS). I think he has thrown so many innings during the regular seasons that he gets worn out. I think he will bounce back just fine on his next start, but they probably shouldn't expect him to throw more than 5-6 effective innings. (And I don't think we should expect no-hitter stuff against these remaining elite teams.) The WS is where he has been by far the least effective: 0-6 5.68 ERA - That is a narrative I'm sure he is desperate to change.

When was the last time McMullet pitched? Didn't he skip his last start? Would you love him if he cut his hair? Would you??? No, he needs to thicken it up in the back so he can wear one of those huge-ass trucker caps like both pitchers had on yesterday.

One of the strengths to our pitching staff is that they collectively get batters to swing at breaking balls outside the zone. One of the strengths of the Mariners batting order is that are very disciplined as a group at not swinging outside the zone. Even though they lost the game the other day the Mariners proved to be tough outs and had us pitching a lot of pitches and dodging a lot of bullets in winning game two.
We should be able to figure out how game three is going to go relatively early. If McCullers has control of his knuckle curve and can keep it dancing along the edges of the strike zone then he may be able to through 6. I really like the idea of Brown following McCullers today as I think he would cause them to modify their approaches big time.

Here's hoping I'm not disappointed by McTwitchy again today. Here's to hoping that he doesn't get rattled by an ump's bad call or a fielding error by one of his teammates.
