Disclaimer: I'm not a Dusty fan, although I did support him because he was the manager. And I'll continue to do so if the Astros offer him a new contract and he accepts.
Dusty now has a WS ring. And his contract has expired. It would seem almost vulgar if the Astros don't offer at least one more year to Dusty. So ball will likely be in his court.
Would you be in favor of at least one more year of Dusty Baker at the helm? Or do you think he'd be wise to go out a winner and call it a career?

No way Crane doesn't offer him an extension, if Dusty wants to leave. If he leaves, then Espada is the manager.

I don’t want Dusty back (who’d a thunk it). I realize there are those who think he’s a great guy and a wonderful manager. I’m not one of those. I feel like the team kinda won despite him. Does that mean he didn’t make some good decisions? Of course not. I believe he was handed the keys to a Bugatti and managed to win one race out of three. Here’s why:
1. Sticking with pitchers far too long in critical situations (I’ve never seen a mgr hang his SP out to dry like he did to McTwitchy). 2. Questionable lineup decisions (refusal to actually play trade deadline acquisitions). 3. Flawed thought processes (“Four runs is nothing in this park”). W T A F 4. “We need more “American-born black players”. Seriously? WTF cares? The players could be green as long as they win.
Sure, there were things out of his control (missing critical players in last year’s WS plus a young and exhausted pitching staff). I get it. In the end analysis I just don’t think the guy’s very bright and shouldn’t be the field manager for this team. Of course, I could be totally wrong. But I don’t think so.

If he wants to stay the manager, then he's going to be the manager. We both agree on that. The question I have for you is: Would you rather see Dusty call it a day, or see him for another year as manager?

The question I have for you is: Would you rather see Dusty call it a day, or see him for another year as manager? Even though he does some stuff that just makes me shake my head.... I am saying yes.... Dusty took on a shit show.... And under his 3 year tenure, Astros went to WS twice (BTB), winning once... I don't know how one can't be loyal back to him.... Plus, I think he did a better job as managing than Hinch did.... Still pissed off at AJ for the 2019 debacle.... So, if he wants to stay, sure. If not, I welcome Espada.

I think the best thing for Dusty is to retire on top. I am not saying we will not win it all again next season, but go out on top. Story book ending and maybe we can sign him to a front office job.

I’m troubled by the fact that so many fans are absolutely convinced that Espada is going to be some great manager…but they can never say why.

Would you be happy if he found us an American born African American? Huh, would you? No. Is that why Bortaz regularly posts some www.aa.org link? shouldn't it be www.abaa.org?

4. “We need more “American-born black players”. Seriously? WTF cares? The players could be green as long as they win. I wanted to reach through the screen and Gibbs-slap him when he said that. Seventy years ago, there was a problem. Not today. The opportunities exist. But Black athletes tend to gravitate toward hoops and football rather than baseball. And why wouldn't they? They can go straight from college or even HS right to the big money if they're good enough.

The question I have for you is: Would you rather see Dusty call it a day, or see him for another year as manager? I think for whatever reason, we're going to wind up with a new manager and a new GM at the beginning of the season. Although I'd prefer Click be retained. I think he's done a fantastic job building world series rosters without giving up our best prospects. I think Dusty's going to retire and I think Yuli's going to retire, but that's just a prediction

The more I think about it, I think Dusty is back next year. He wants to keep coaching, he just won a WS with this team, and I can't envision Crane not bringing him back. I want to move on but if Dusty wants the job, it's his.
