I hate saying this but I will anyway, when I look at this guy I see Whitley. Hopefully we will not screw him up by misusing him like we have done with Whitley. This is what is wrong with America today: Blaming everyone else for this loser being a loser. The team didn't give him Adderall, the team didn't give him a shitty work ethic, the team didn't make him a punkass who complains about every bruise/scrape and misses months of work because of them. That's all on him. The worst is people talking up Jon Singleton for “overcoming his addiction to marijuana”. |

When you hear 6’8” it makes you think of Randy Johnson. However it sounds like this kid has nowhere near the velocity The Big Unit did. Hopefully he can get his fastball up to around 95 regularly. Whitley does not have the physical ability to be a starter. However he could have been a solid reliever. Look at the stats and his first and second inning eras are solid. As a starter he is a loser. No one is making any excuses for Whitley being a crappy starter. He just can not do it either physically or mentally and yet the Astros persist. if they woke up and smelled the roses then he could be a contributing member of the team. Instead the team just keeps doing the same damn thing and expecting different results. By definition that is insanity. And despite Bortaz talking out his ass about making excuses for shitty performance no one and me in particular is doing that. I am just noting that the team has made a mistake with him and I hope that they do not do the same with the new kid. |
