I know we all tend to dog the hitting, but the pitching has given up the most hits in baseball. The pitching has definitely regressed some early on. It’s still been good enough though to win ballgames.

The pitching seems fine. Our offense is horrible.

Even the Twins announcers thought Stanek's 4-seamer to Correa on the 2-2 count was a strike

We need them cause they sit atop the batting order. Maybe if we rearranged things it'd take the pressure off
Hensley dh Tucker rf Álvarez lf Abreu 1b Bregman 3b
Peña ss
McCormick cf Maldonado c Dubón 2b
Do you think Hensley would get on base more often than Peña? He does have a decent awareness of the zone, though. Not sure it'd make a difference anyway with the relief core being less than satisfactory

I left the game after the passed ball. Glad I did.

For the people wondering why Dusty didn’t use Stanek in the postseason, there you go.

The bullpen giving up one earned in 5 innings isn't the problem.
The offense is downright bad outside of Yordan and Tucker. Abreu and Chas have had their moments as well, but otherwise we just suck at scoring runs.
Dusty doesn't put out the best players consistently. Pena is NOT a leadoff hitter. Bregman has to get going. And we don't move runners.

And we don't move runners. It matters when all you need is three outs to secure a win. The one thing Dusty did wrong was use Pressly in the 9th. Stanek is not made for the pressure the way our closer is generally. At home it makes sense to use the closer in the 9th because he can’t get a save when it’s tied in the 9th or later. There’s no reason to have not switched the innings for Pressly and Stanek. The hitting is struggling, but the pitching hasn’t always come through. Getting bludgeoned by hits isn’t a recipe for success.

Oh, and Maldonado stinks. He throws out runners once in a while, big whoop. His lack of blocking led to a couple runs today and they only scored 3 off our pitching.

The offense, which is hurting without Altuve and Brantley, isn't just underperforming...they're bad.

I know we all tend to dog the hitting, but the pitching has given up the most hits in baseball. It's early but you can't help but wonder how much the shift ban may be playing into it. We were the shift kings and suddenly that strategy has been eliminated.

Maldy strikes again with his stellar defense. The man is the love child of Piazza and Bench. That’s why he must play 90% of the time instead of Lee or Díaz.

Javier pitched better and we won without Maldy catching him (the last game of the home stand). Vazquez only caught two games in the post season last year, both were shutouts and one was a combined no-hitter. He isn’t the reason our team has been so good the past 3+ years. At this point he should be a catcher in a committee and play 40% of the games or less.
