I don't think Hank Conger the last 2 months he was here was this bad Besides dancing in the dugout, he wasn’t good.

He had 14 HR and a .650+ OPS. Not good, but not an utter disaster. I’m shocked he did that well here.

I guess he isn't hurt after all. I've never seen such immediate excessive decline without a health issue. Does anyone else remember an example like this? Well, Yuli went from batting title to Jork-level shitassedness over one offseason.

The rookies you can cut some slack. Even then Meyers, Julks and especially Hensley should be sent down. I suspect Hensley is gone when Altuve returns. Meyers will probably stay. I still don’t know why Salazar is on the roster unless they plan to DH Diaz a lot more than they have. By far the most non-productive batters are Bregman and Abreu. They’re both killing us with Abreu being especially atrocious. This is the worst Astros offense I’ve seen since 2013.

I guess he isn't hurt after all. I've never seen such immediate excessive decline without a health issue. Does anyone else remember an example like this? Carlos Beltrán, 2017. Sadly, it's not even that close. Beltran 2016: 122 wRC+, 2.3 WAR Beltran 2017: 76 wRC+, -1.2 WAR Difference: -46 wRC+, -3.5 WAR Abreu 2022: 137 wRC+, 3.9 WAR Abreu: 2023: 43 wRC+, -1.0 WAR Difference: -94 wRC+ Ninety four! The fact that he's already been worth nearly the same negative WAR in less than two months that Beltran was in that entire season is stunning. Since Todd asked I've been trying to think of another implosion this dramatic and I really can't. He went from an all-star level performer to a guy who might not be able to stick on a AAA team overnight.

I was just naming another player who did poorly after getting here.

He's always had soft-tissue issues there, and he played 170 games last year when the league average among qualified batters was around 140. Add that to playing 40 of 40 games this year, and it just feels like it's a World-Series hangover going on for him. I wonder when he's getting a day off

Besides dancing in the dugout, he wasn’t good. He was a Hollywood movie w/RISP for a few weeks during the summer Tony Sipp’s performance was largely unheralded that season. He was one of the few reliable relievers down the stretch in 2015. It wasn’t his fault Correa couldn’t turn a double play against the Royals.
