Talk about a sweet swing. That kid did it all this spring. My guess is that if he had of done a little better in the fall league he would be our starting lf in a couple of days. But he will start in the minors. Will it be CC or Fresno. How long do you think they will keep him in the minors.
My guess is that they will start him off in CC for about 100abs and then move him to Fresno and bring him up sometime in June.

If I were Fisher, I'd be trying to get my shit in gear...he's apt to lose his job if he continues to stink.

I think Fisher has got a few more aw shits to go before Luhnow gives up on him. I think long term Luhnow hopes the outfield lineup is Tucker RF, Springer CF, and Fisher LF. If Fisher stinks it up real bad though he will most likely be a throw in for a July trade.

Somehow I just can’t envision Fisher being in a 4th outfielder role. I would not be at all surprised if Fisher or Reddick is traded before opening day 2019.

I agree with you about Tucker starting out the season at AA and getting promoted to AAA quickly. If Tucker rakes at AA and AAA, and if Fisher is successful while Springer, Reddick and Marisnick stay healthy, it could get crowded in the OF, unless Luhnow moves an outfielder at the trade deadline.

Brendan McCurry is another kid who raised his stock in ST. 11 IP, 14 K, 2 BB, 7 H, 0 R. Not a bad showing. It seems that he is a guy who benefited from being suspended for testing positive for a drug of abuse. Looks like he has got his act together.

Just noticed that Tucker is listed on the CC roster. Myles Straw is also on the Corpus Christi roster. He is projected to make his ML debut in 2019. I’m gonna keep an eye on him. If he does well at AA and AAA, I could see him replacing Marisnick as the 4th outfielder in 2019 or 2020. His primary position is CF, but he plays all 3 OF positions well. He is not nearly as strikeout prone as Jake is. He is fast and can steal a base. He has 81 steals in his 3 years in the minors while being caught stealing 30 times.

He has the stature to be able to hit for some power as well but his swing plane is not right for getting loft on the ball. They were working with him on that this spring. So if he gets off to a slow start I would not be as worried about it as I would be if they were not trying to make such a huge adjustment.

Do you have any idea how Ferrell is looking? I was high on that kid. He finished strong last year. In his last 9 games at AA last year he pitched 12.1 innings, gave up 3 hits, K’d 19, didn’t walk a batter and allowed no runs. Not a bad way to finish a year. Got roughed up a bit in ST, but he only pitched 4 innings. He is on the roster of AA Corpus Christi.

This from mlbtr:
“Jake Kaplan of The Athletic tweets that Astros top prospect Kyle Tucker will open the season in Triple-A despite possessing only a half season’s worth of experience at the Double-A level. The former No. 5 overall draft pick looks to be on the fast track to the big leagues, having slashed .265/.325/.512 in 72 Double-A games as a 20-year-old last year in addition to a robust .409/.438/.818 slash in 48 spring plate appearances with the ’Stros this year. Tucker entered the year as a consensus top 20 overall prospect and is considered to be a key long-term cog for an already youthful Astros organization.”

I am guessing because he is a CF, he has a decent arm...

Tucker should tear it up in Fresno. If Fisher does not hit 270/280 in April and May Tucker should make his debut.

There's no reason to rush Tucker as long as the team is winning unless our LF just turns into a complete offensive hole.

Tucker went 2 for 4 with a walk in his first game with the Grizzlies.
Other notable players: Tony Kemp 0 for 4 with a sac fly Tyler white 1 for 3 with a walk AJ Reed 1 for 4 with 2 K's SuperJack Mayfield 1 for 3 with 1 walk and 1 K
Hauschild, Ramsey, and Thome stank but James Hoyt and Cy Sneed pitched well in relief.

Jake Marisnick has been looking awful at the plate (2 HRs aside). If Jake continues to tank, it could help Tucker's case.
