WHY IS MALDONADO HITTING? That was my exact thought. On mine have a few more words not printable here. How soon before Dusty decides this was a bad idea to stay as coach this year.

WHY IS MALDONADO HITTING? Astros fans need to abandon all logic when assessing the Maldy usage.

The whole team is in a funk and they better figure it out soon or it will be too late. Starting to remind me of some other bad teams in the past.

I like Hensley and still think he can be a significant piece Why? Why don't you? Because he's struggled in his rookie season while getting to play once or twice a week?

He's striking out like a fiend and his plate discipline has always been his strong suit. If anything, homeboy needs less plate discipline. He sits there taking strikes all the time.

www.espn.com/mlb/player/gamelog/_/id/3898501I was thinking to myself that you hardly see Hensley get hits, but man, 1 for his last 34? The man needs an exorcism for his bats and a trip to Sugar Land. Sorry, Ash but dude needs to figure it out in the minors. The team has enough easy outs in Abreu.

Hensley I imagine will be here til someone who can sub at first base (like Brantley) joins the 25-man. We should've signed Yuli if Dusty wasn't gonna sub Díaz there, just to get him some ABs once in a while

Sure, I am not happy about how bad his bat has been. However, Yuli wasn't particularly good with the bat during the regular season, but his glove was elite. I can recall a few times Abreu has let a routine grounder go through his legs, which is just not ok.

That's not us, and we don't evaluate free agent options that way

Just that it's a lower AAV for one less year for someone who's six years younger. I don't get paid like the guys in the front office, but to me that's textbook

Bad contracts happen. At least Abreu's is only three years if he continues to suck.

Why don't you? Because he's struggled in his rookie season while getting to play once or twice a week? I just question it because, conversely, Julks has done seemingly very well in his rookie season and you seem to think he sucks. I don't think he sucks, I think he's a flash in the pan and his numbers aren't sustainable. He can still be a passable MLB backup corner outfielder. And it's a bit late for this conversation anyway, as he has predictably lost 44 points in batting average over his last 7 games. Julks can't play CF or any infield spots. Hensley can play five positions. Hensley has shown better plate discipline in the past (despite his struggles, he's still posting a walk rate a full 10% higher than Julks). Julks has a .355 BAbip and Hensley is at .216. It's pretty clear that Hensley has a better chance of consistent future performance and value than Julks does.

Chances are, neither of them are worth a nickel. But one of them contributed to the ML team when called upon (regardless of projections), and one has not (regardless of projections).

Well, not really. Hensley contributed a heck of a lot last year after being called up. Even some in the World Series. He has not done so this year. Julks contributed a lot for a few weeks, and since has not. Other than recency bias, I don't understand why Hensley failing to contribute after initial success a bit sooner than Julks' failure to contribute after initial success is a problem, but it's seemingly not for Julks. Not to mention that the first premise seems flawed to me; the point is that Hensley is the more talented player. His chance of being "worth a nickel" is higher than Julks'. That's really my whole point in this discussion.
