Meyers had 4 hits last night. Julks had a GS. Chill. Yeah let's go by one game and not multiple seasons of data. Don’t be mad because Chas is on the bench.

What a pathetic game after such a good one yesterday. Bad offense, bad defense outside of Dubon, bad lineup, bad coaching decisions. Just bad. 10+ runs almost always followed by suck.

Y’all got to admit that us prognosticators were right about Montero.

Defensive whiz and veteran game-caller at his finest. Dusty said that having a rookie catcher and a rookie pitcher wasn't a good idea. Yet Brown is a whole run better when Diaz catches. Dusty is full of crap about Maldonado. If that was the case, Díaz would’ve never caught him. The pitch to Springer was straight garbage.

Especially with Dusty's illogical bullsh*t comments about Diaz/Maldonado. Chas being benched two games in a row despite being our second best hitting OFer is just the icing on the pathetic game.

Meanwhile, the Rangers keep blasting teams.

So, how much are we blaming Crane for Montero, or are we going to deflect this one to Bagwell and Reggie?

Good idea Dusty. Let Maldy bat in the 8th while your down 2 runs. This is the managing equivalent of a crime. Imagine having Diaz, clearly the more talented hitter, coming off a four hit game, but it's still Maldonado in the 8th down two runs. Just...there's no excuse, none.

It's wild. Even the opposing team announcers for the last 3 series talked about how important Maldy is and that his hitting is irrelevant.

He was pissed Click didn't pursue Graveman for $35M And now they’re paying a guy $11.5 million a year for mop-up duty and hoping he gets his confidence back.

And I'm sure there is some truth to this, and I even understand that Maldy is important to the team. With that being said, when Diaz catches, I don't see this big swing in our pitcher's performance + the offensive upside of Diaz is clear. At this point Maldy just needs to be the back-up catcher and a sort of player/coach to the pitchers. We know this won't happen though...

They’re essentially telling the fans they HAVE to have an automatic snail-footed out in the lineup because he somehow telepathically gets batters to take strikes or swing late on pitches.

If Maldonado was still a defensive gem and there was a notable difference in performance from the pitching staff, I would agree more. But it's not true. Brown is better with Diaz. Javier was better with Castro. Pressly was better with Castro, and, in a very small sample size Lee and Diaz. Some are better with Maldonado too (like Framber), but the point is that he doesn't suddenly make the pitchers better than anyone else as a whole. There is no statistical proof that he makes a difference with the pitching staff as a whole. The pitchers may like him, but that doesn't mean they do better with him. P.S. Diaz is throwing out runners twice as better than Maldonado as well.
